Job DescriptionDescription: The Case Staffing Attorney is responsible for the allocation and staffing of legal matters. This position will support all aspects of the matter staffing firm wide. The Case Staffing Attorney will oversee the assignment of attorneys, paralegals and support staff in various matters based on their skills, experience, and availability. This position will develop an understanding of attorney caseloads, individual attorney strengths, areas of expertise, capacity, and billable hours’ trends. Duties and Responsibilities • Oversee the allocation of attorneys, paralegals, and support staff in legal cases based on expertise, workload, and client and practice group needs, • Develop and implement strategies for optimal staffing assignments, considering case complexity, deadlines, and individual team member strengths and availability, • Facilitate the smooth transition of cases during attorney departures, leaves of absence and new hire integration, • Collaborate with Paralegal team for paralegal staffing, • Maintain and update the case assignment database with current information on assigned staff, including attorneys, paralegals, and partners, • Record and track attorney and client-specific preferences with requirements related to staffing, • Track staffing requirements and updates for every new matter from initiation through resolution, • Audit case staffing to ensure all matters are appropriately staffed, • Regularly update case-staffing records to reflect changes in staffing, case assignments, and personnel status, • Utilize advanced Excel features (e.g. pivot tables, conditional formatting, VBA, forecast & trend tools) to analyze staffing data, identify trends and generate reports on resource utilization, efficiency, and project timelines, • Work closely with senior management and practice group leaders to develop and implement data-driven staffing models, • Provide insights and recommendations based on staffing data to improve workflow, enhance productivity, and support strategic decision-making, • J.D. degree from accredited law school, • Admitted to practice law and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, • At least 3 years experience as a practicing attorney in a law firm setting, • Practice Group Management experience preferred, • Demonstrated proficiency in advanced Excel (e.g., pivot tables, conditional formatting, VBA, forecast & trend tools), • Exceptional organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet strict deadlines, • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making, • Familiarity with legal practice management software, e.g., viAllocate, is a plus, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely, • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment Equal Opportunity Employer Kahana Feld provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
