Job Description Summary/Objective We are seeking a Legal Assistant to provide administrative support to our attorneys, paralegals, and clients. The general duties include organizing client files, collecting documents, preparing applications for filing, requesting FOIAs, coordinating with paralegals and attorneys, and ensuring stellar customer service. The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, dependable, friendly, and have strong communications skills (both written and verbal). Essential Functions: • Prepare immigration petitions and applications for filing with the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) and National Visa Center (NVC), • Prepare Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, • Utilize USCIS website to research on most up to date filing requirements– accurate filing fees, filing address, supporting documents and forms needed, etc., • Collect documents from clients, • Meet with clients and prepare cases under the supervision of an attorney, • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills., • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail., • Excellent ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment., • Positive, can-do attitude, • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Required Education and Experience: • Bachelor's degree (any related field), • 1+ years of experience as an immigration legal assistant, • Proficiency in requesting Freedom of Information Act records from multiple government agencies, • Experience drafting USCIS applications, petitions and visa applications with CEAC, • Excellent use of software applications such as Clio, Docketwise, and Adobe Work Location: In person McBean Law PLLC provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
