Job Description Job purpose The Director of Facilities & Construction will be a strategic leader responsible for the planning, operation, and maintenance of all facilities and infrastructure assets. This role oversees the design, building, renovation, and upkeep of all properties, ensuring safety, compliance, and operational efficiency. The position requires deep knowledge of facilities engineering, construction management, sustainability practices, and vendor relations to support both day-to-day operations and long-term capital improvement strategies. Duties and responsibilities • Oversee all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, structural, and fire/life safety systems., • Ensure preventative and predictive maintenance schedules are followed to maximize asset lifespan., • Manage custodial, landscaping, snow removal, and other essential services., • Lead planning, design, budgeting, permitting, and execution of construction, renovation, and tenant improvement projects., • Partner with architects, engineers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery., • Oversee bid processes, negotiate contracts, and manage change orders., • Maintain full compliance with OSHA, ADA, NFPA, environmental, and local building codes., • Oversee workplace safety programs, emergency preparedness, and incident reporting., • Ensure all vendor and contractor work adheres to company safety standards., • Develop and manage annual facilities and capital budgets., • Track expenses, analyze cost drivers, and recommend efficiency improvements., • Negotiate vendor agreements for maintenance, construction, and specialized services., • Implement energy management and sustainability initiatives to reduce environmental footprint and operating costs., • Create multi-year facilities master plans aligned with business growth and operational needs., • Maintain accurate records, drawings, and maintenance logs for all assets. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field., • Certified Facility Manager (CFM), LEED AP, PMP, or similar credentials strongly preferred., • HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing certification a plus., • 8+ years in facilities management, construction, or engineering leadership roles., • Proven track record delivering multi-million-dollar construction or renovation projects., • Experience managing distributed facilities in manufacturing, logistics, or commercial sectors., • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and structural systems., • Proficiency with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems)., • Familiarity with sustainability standards, building automation systems, and energy efficiency strategies., • Exceptional organizational, budgeting, and vendor management skills., • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities., • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage competing priorities. Safety Requirements • Must be able to work in both an office and warehouse environment, • Ability to travel within the Buffalo area as needed, • Follow all GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices) Physical requirements • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, • Must have transportation to move between sites in the greater Buffalo area Direct reports Facilities Supervisor Assistant Property Coordinator M-F
