Job DescriptionSalary: Position Summary: The Assistant Director of Student Care & Accessibility Services Coordinator supports student success by overseeing Accommodations & Accessibility Services, supporting counseling operations, and coordinating campus-wide wellness initiatives. This role manages the intake and eligibility process for accommodations, coordinates academic and housing support, and ensures compliance with ADA regulations through accurate documentation and ongoing professional development. Additionally, the Assistant Director develops and delivers wellness programming, collaborates with campus partners, and promotes mental health awareness through outreach, workshops, and events. Responsibilities also include supporting counseling services by managing referrals and potentially providing direct counseling services. As a key campus collaborator, the role engages with faculty, staff, and the University Care Team to address student needs, enhance well-being, and foster an inclusive, supportive campus environment that prioritizes accessibility, mental health, and holistic student development. This position requires a high degree of independent decision-making as well as team collaboration. This position is an integral part of the Student Affairs Division and reports to the Director of Student Care. Specific Duties: Testing & Accommodations • Applicant Intake & Eligibility: Communicate with new applicants, collect documentation, determine eligibility for accommodations, and conduct initial meetings., • Student Support & Coordination: Meet with students to approve accommodations, guide them to resources, and coordinate with instructors and housing (including service animals/ESAs)., • Records & Compliance Management: Maintain accurate documentation and updates in Pharos, ensure accommodations are distributed, and handle case-related research and correspondence., • Semester Processes: Send renewal reminders and update/renew student accommodations each semester., • Scheduling, projects, programs, and marketing department services and resources., • Assist walk-in students seeking counseling or accommodations, • Manage daily operations and organization of department, provide good customer service., • Create and deliver presentations and workshops on student wellness topics (e.g., healthy eating, suicide awareness, relationships, and boundaries)., • Partner with campus departments to support outreach programs and provide mental health education., • Provide classroom-based mental health modules upon faculty request., • Coordinate and host bi-annual health and wellness fairs, including recruiting and managing guest speakers., • Develop and distribute informational pamphlets and materials to support student awareness and engagement., • Attend University events such as orientations, preview days, and panels for prospective/incoming students and families. Counseling Center Operations • Oversee daily operations of the counseling center to ensure efficient and student-focused services., • Manage counseling referrals, assign students to graduate interns, and monitor case distribution., • Supervise and support graduate counseling interns in their daily responsibilities., • Meet with coaches, faculty, and staff to address concerns about students mental health and academic success., • Conduct mental health screenings for student-athletes and other identified populations., • Facilitate prevention and awareness efforts tailored to student needs, addressing emerging mental health concerns., • Partner with other Health & Wellness Departments (such as Success Coaches, Religious & Spiritual Life, Residence Life, and Recreation & Wellness) and other campus partners in the development of a holistic approach to health and well-being at McMurry, • Serve as a member of the University Care Team and coordinate resources between the Student Care & Counseling Department and the rest of the campus community Qualifications: Required Qualifications: • Bachelors degree in Psychology, Special Education, Social Work, Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, or related field;, • At least 6 months of directly related experience which may include internship and/or practicum;, • Prior experience working with families and/or individuals with disabilities;, • Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Special Education, or related field;, • Certification/Licensure (TX licensure) as LCSW, LPC, MFT, or associate licensure;, • Prior experience in disability services, including developing, implementing, and assessing policies, procedures, and services related to accessibility and accommodations;, • Prior experience in family and client support, counseling, and education related to referral and advocacy in order to facilitate access to appropriate services and resources.
