Role Overview We are hiring a Finance Manager to lead and manage all day-to-day financial operations for Bask & Lather, with a heavy focus on cost control, invoice scrutiny, vendor management, and proactive margin optimization. While we work with an external accounting firm for bookkeeping, taxes, and reconciliations, this role will be deeply embedded internally, managing real-time financial workflows, enforcing internal controls, and partnering cross-functionally to ensure smart, profitable decision-making. Core Responsibilities Day-to-Day Financial Management • Own and manage daily invoice review and approval, flagging errors, out-of-scope charges, or cost anomalies, • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring vendors are paid on time and aged invoices are tracked, • Coordinate weekly check runs, flagging any unusual trends or non-standard requests Vendor & Expense Oversight • Review and reconcile invoices across manufacturing, 3PL, marketing, software, and freelancers, • Track department-level spend (marketing, ops, R&D) and enforce budget adherence, • Perform detailed line-item reviews of spend categories, looking for waste, duplications, or overspend, • Work closely with vendors to clarify charges, correct errors, and renegotiate terms if needed Profitability & Margin Analysis • Monitor gross margins by channel on an ongoing basis, • Track COGS fluctuations: ingredients, packaging, logistics, fulfillment, • Evaluate promo performance (bundles, sales, campaigns) and model net profit impact, • Identify margin improvement opportunities and present actionable insights Forecasting & Financial Modeling • Develop and maintain rolling 36 month forecasts, updated monthly, • Create scenario-based models for planned initiatives: PO scaling, hiring, retail expansion, etc., • Align forecast assumptions with ops/inventory cycles and sales trends KPI Reporting & Strategic Finance • Prepare and maintain monthly financial dashboards and summaries, • Track KPIs: gross margin, LTV:CAC, refund rate, burn rate, expense ratios, channel profitability, • Partner with CEO and Head of Growth to connect financial insights with marketing and ops performance Compliance & Controls • Collaborate with external accountants on reconciliations, journal entries, and tax filings, • Manage sales tax, use tax, multi-state filings, business license renewals, and vendor 1099s, • Develop and enforce internal controls: payment approvals, PO systems, and documentation requirements, • Assist with documentation for insurance, audits, or legal reviews Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work with Operations team on inventory spend, inbound POs, reorder timing, and freight, • Partner with HR for payroll alignment, reimbursements, and benefits spend tracking, • Support Product Development with ingredient/packaging cost tracking and pricing guidance, • Align with marketing on budget pacing, CAC tracking, and campaign ROAS profitability Qualifications • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required), • 58 years of hands-on financial management, preferably in a DTC CPG or ecommerce brand, • Mastery of Excel/Google Sheets; comfort using tools like QuickBooks Online, Gusto, Ramp, etc., • Strong attention to detail - must be willing to scrutinize numbers and invoices daily, • Experience owning budget planning, expense tracking, and margin forecasting, • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, founder-led startup environment, • Excellent communicator, must proactively partner across departments and vendors Bonus if You Have • CPA or MBA, • Experience with Amazon, Shopify Plus, TikTok Shop analytics, • Prior work with NetSuite, Sage, or other mid-market ERP systems, • Familiarity with cost accounting for physical products Work Arrangement (remote or hybrid): will be determined based on the candidates location Compensation:$90,000$110,000 Bask & Lather Co. is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
