Job Description Wholesale Food Handler / Food Assembler Carlyle’s Market – Wholesale Production Location: 725 W. Peachtree Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30308 Department: Wholesale Production Reports To: Production Manager / Production Lead Employment Status: Full-Time / Part-Time, based on business needs Position Summary The Wholesale Food Handler / Food Assembler is responsible for the safe preparation, portioning, assembly, packaging, labeling, and handling of food products produced at Carlyle’s Market’s wholesale production facility. This is a hands-on production position requiring attention to food safety, sanitation, portion accuracy, product quality, labeling, and production efficiency. Team members must consistently follow established recipes, production procedures, GMPs, sanitation requirements, allergen controls, and food-safety procedures. Primary Responsibilities • Prepare and assemble food products according to approved recipes, specifications, production sheets, and portion standards., • Portion, weigh, fill, assemble, package, seal, and label finished products accurately., • Verify the correct product, packaging, label, date, and lot information before products are released from the workstation., • Follow established production schedules and assist the team in meeting daily production goals., • Properly handle Ready-to-Eat (RTE), cooked, chilled, and other food products to prevent contamination., • Maintain separation between raw and Ready-to-Eat products as directed., • Follow allergen-control and product-changeover procedures., • Use scales, thermometers, packaging equipment, food processors, slicers, mixers, and other approved production equipment as trained., • Maintain accurate production, temperature, batch, lot, waste, and other required records., • Immediately report incorrect labels, damaged packaging, temperature concerns, foreign material, contamination, equipment problems, or other food-safety concerns., • Follow product HOLD procedures when directed by Production or QA/Food Safety., • Assist with receiving, ingredient staging, cooler/freezer organization, finished-product storage, and order preparation as needed. Food Safety & Sanitation All Wholesale Food Handlers / Assemblers are expected to: • Follow Carlyle’s Market GMPs, SSOPs, personal hygiene requirements, and food-safety procedures., • Wash hands and change gloves as required., • Wear required uniforms, hair restraints, beard restraints, gloves, and other protective equipment., • Prevent cross-contamination and allergen cross-contact., • Maintain clean and sanitary workstations throughout production., • Clean and sanitize equipment, utensils, tables, containers, and food-contact surfaces according to established procedures., • Use cleaning chemicals only as trained and according to approved procedures., • Follow proper time and temperature controls., • Immediately report illness, injury, sanitation concerns, pest activity, spills, condensation, damaged equipment, or any condition that could affect product safety., • Cooperate with Production and QA/Food Safety during inspections, monitoring, corrective actions, and regulatory visits. Quality & Packaging Expectations Employees are responsible for ensuring products meet Carlyle’s established standards for appearance, portion size, weight, packaging, labeling, and overall quality. Products should not be packaged or released when there is a known concern with food safety, quality, packaging integrity, labeling, temperature, or product identification. Concerns must be immediately reported to the Production Lead or QA/Food Safety Manager. Qualifications Previous food production, commercial kitchen, catering, manufacturing, assembly, packaging, or warehouse experience is preferred but not required for qualified candidates willing to learn. Candidates should have strong attention to detail, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, basic reading and math skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment. Food-handler or ServSafe certification is preferred and may be required after hire. Physical Requirements This position requires prolonged standing and repetitive food preparation and packaging tasks. Employees must be able to bend, reach, push, pull, and safely lift and carry approximately 40–50 pounds as required by the position. Employees will regularly work in refrigerated production and storage environments and around commercial food-production equipment. Performance Expectations Success in this position will be measured by food safety, attendance and reliability, production accuracy, portion and weight consistency, packaging and labeling accuracy, sanitation, productivity, teamwork, waste reduction, and adherence to established procedures.
