Job Description Job Title: 1st Shift Shipping Clerk / Warehouse Worker Job Description • This role supports a busy automotive parts distribution facility by performing shipping, receiving, and warehouse tasks on 1st shift., • You will handle inventory, prepare orders for shipment, and work with RF scanners, rolling stairs, and material handling equipment in a fast-paced environment. The position requires flexibility with start times, strong attention to safety, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities • Receive incoming materials and restock inventory accurately in designated locations., • Perform shipping and receiving functions, including preparing and processing outbound shipments., • Load and unload materials from trucks using appropriate material handling methods., • Break down boxes and package items securely for shipment according to company standards., • Use rolling stairs and order pickers to access and pick materials located at various heights., • Operate RF scanners to locate, pick, and verify inventory and orders., • Pick and stage orders for the automotive industry, including climbing rolling stairs ranging from approximately 7 to 15 steps when needed., • Assist warehouse supervisors and team members with daily operational tasks as required., • Maintain accurate warehouse inventory by following proper stocking, picking, and counting procedures., • Use pallet jacks and other basic warehouse equipment to move materials safely around the facility., • Keep the work area clean and organized, including breaking down boxes and disposing of packaging materials appropriately., • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of rolling safety ladders and adherence to facility rules and guidelines., • Work productively in a fast-paced environment while meeting performance and accuracy expectations., • Support mandatory overtime needs, including working up to 2 additional hours daily and occasional Saturdays as required. Essential Skills • Experience in shipping and receiving within a warehouse or distribution environment., • Hands-on experience with order picking and packing processes., • Ability to use RF scanners for order picking, inventory control, and verification., • Ability to operate pallet jacks and perform basic material handling tasks., • Comfort using rolling safety ladders with approximately 5–7 steps and willingness to occasionally use a taller rolling ladder (up to about 15 feet) when needed for shipping., • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 100 pounds., • Ability to stand, walk, sit, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms throughout the shift., • Ability to occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or squat to complete warehouse tasks., • Ability to speak, read, and write English to follow instructions, labels, and documentation., • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment and maintaining productivity and accuracy., • Ability to work independently and stay self-motivated with minimal supervision., • Flexibility to work 1st shift with varying start times (5:30 AM or 6:30 AM) and end times (2:00 PM or 3:00 PM) and to support mandatory overtime and occasional Saturdays. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Prior experience in a distribution or automotive parts warehouse is beneficial., • Previous exposure to shipping and receiving processes, including order picking and packaging., • Familiarity with warehouse inventory procedures and basic documentation., • Interest in learning forklift operation, with future training opportunities available after direct hire., • Strong attention to safety when using rolling stairs, RF scanners, and material handling equipment., • Ability to work well in a team environment while also taking initiative to complete tasks independently. Work Environment • This role is based in a warehouse and distribution facility that manufactures and distributes automotive parts., • The work environment is typically loud due to forklifts and other machinery operating throughout the facility, so comfort in a high-noise setting is important., • The position is on 1st shift, Monday through Friday, with start times of either 5:30 AM or 6:30 AM and end times around 2:00 PM or 3:00 PM, requiring flexibility. Mandatory overtime of up to 2 additional hours daily and occasional Saturday work may be required., • You will frequently use rolling stairs and RF scanners to pick orders and manage inventory, and you will handle physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and moving materials throughout the shift., • The dress code includes a plain shirt with no logos for alcohol or similar imagery, jeans without holes, and closed-toe shoes to support a safe and professional environment.
