We are seeking a Level 4 Senior Staff RF Antenna Engineer with deep expertise in antenna systems, element/mutual coupling, and free-space radiation performance—and the proven ability to rapidly evaluate, troubleshoot, and optimize existing antenna designs. This is a high-impact, fast-response role supporting programs where performance shortfalls must be diagnosed and corrected on aggressive timelines. You will bridge simulation, measurement, and practical implementation to deliver solutions that work—quickly and reliably. Key Responsibilities: * Rapidly assess existing antenna and array designs for performance gaps against requirements. * Diagnose and resolve issues related to mutual coupling, beam distortion, impedance mismatch, and bandwidth limitations. * Recommend and implement design modifications for immediate performance improvements. * Perform accelerated free-space radiation pattern measurements and compare results against simulations. * Run high-fidelity EM simulations (HFSS, CST, FEKO, or similar) under compressed schedules for fast validation. * Evaluate antenna integration into host platforms for mechanical, thermal, and electrical compatibility. * Support urgent production and field troubleshooting, including on-site technical interventions when required. * Collaborate with RF systems engineers to ensure antenna performance aligns with system-level budgets and phase stability. * Produce clear, actionable evaluation reports for program stakeholders, often under short deadlines. * Mentor junior engineers in rapid diagnostic and problem-solving methods. Additionally, the department operates on a 24/7/365 basis to provide support for mission-critical systems that serve our Public Safety Customers. • Maintain, optimize, test, document and manage highly technical Motorola and other communications systems., • Focus on maintaining optimal performance levels across an integrated system while taking a proactive approach to address and mitigate system level alarms and malfunctions., • Manage system availability through routine system maintenance, performance monitoring and system wide preventative maintenance., • Perform preventative maintenance routines to ensure proper system operation with focus on trend analysis and the documentation of results., • Optimize and support complex communication systems and software applications, including advanced troubleshooting of software driven electronics, provisioning of communication system infrastructure and performance optimization of RF and Broadband systems., • Deliver knowledge of R.F. systems, such as transmitters, receivers, and antenna networks., • Deliver knowledge in standard telephony, dedicated data circuits, and packet switching techniques., • Provide weekly reports of activities and accomplishments., • Develop solutions to difficult technical problems encountered as part of system maintenance, upgrades or support issues., • Candidates must be familiar with the latest technologies and troubleshooting techniques for current model digital and analog Motorola communications equipment and system architectures., • Experience as a Communications System Technician with expertise in P25 Systems, LMR RF systems, wired/wireless communication systems, networking equipment, IT networks, and subscriber equipment., • Highly knowledgeable in wired/wireless communications systems, including local area networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN)., • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access, demonstrating strong computer literacy., • Possesses exceptional self-management and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with customers, subcontractor partners, and various teams within Motorola Solutions., • Self-motivated and capable of performing duties independently without direct supervision., • Skilled in quickly resolving customer problems even in stressful situations., • Familiarity with configuring and testing base stations, repeaters, routers, switches, and MPLS networks., • Proficient in installing, configuring, and maintaining computer networks, including cabling, routers, switches, firewalls, and bridges., • Proven experience utilizing equipment commonly used for optimizing and testing Motorola communications systems, such as Communications Systems Analyzers, Power Sensors and Watt Meters, TIMS sets, CPS, CSS, Antenna Systems Analyzers (FDRs)., • Skilled in configuring and testing Motorola and other two-way radio and subscriber products., • Must be willing to travel and live within 50 miles from the coverage area., • Must be able to obtain background clearance as required by government customer(s)., • Must have a current, valid driver’s license and no traffic violations., • Ability to be on-call 24/7/365, • Certifications such as ETA are a plus., • CET certifications through CompTIA Network+ and/or Security+ are highly desirable. Standard Hours are M-F 8:00am-5:00pm some weekends and nights might be required as part of an on-call schedule.
