American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Kansas City, Missouri. • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 01/19/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 48 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) night shift position managing complex post-surgical cardiac and vascular patients, requiring a MO or compact RN license and at least 2 years of recent specialty experience. • Work in a tertiary care hospital PCU specializing in thoracic and vascular post-operative patients, • Night shift schedule with four 12-hour shifts per week (18:45-07:15), • Patient ratio is 1:4 on a 26-bed unit, • Weekend requirement is 8 shifts within each 6-week schedule period, including Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, • Patients include those recovering from CABG, valve replacements, aortic aneurysm repairs, thoracotomy/VAT, carotid endarterectomy, TAVR, and others with complex co-morbidities, • Floating required within service line and across all MICC units as needed, • Epic is used for electronic charting; previous Epic experience is preferred, • No on-call requirement, • Care for complex post-surgical cardiac and vascular patients, including those with advanced heart failure, renal disease, and diabetes, • Must be willing to float within service lines and units as directed by facility needs, • Expect charge RN responsibilities and holiday shift coverage as needed, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply, • Scrub color required is navy, • No travel partners are accepted for this position, • Request for time off must not exceed 7 days, • Free parking is provided, • Active MO or compact RN license must be in hand at time of consideration, • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown nursing experience required, • One full year of specialty experience within the past 12 months and no employment gap greater than 90 days in the past year, • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), • Skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, use of rapid response teams, pacemaker management, pre/post cardiac cath and surgery care, titration of insulin and cardiac drips, wound and central line care, blood product administration, tracheostomy management, and non-invasive airway management, • Must be able to manage cardiac drips, titrate vasoactive drips, care for chest tubes, and handle various surgical drains, • Two professional references from the past year required, including one from a supervisor-level or above, • Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy, • Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID #P-650261.
