Job Description Job Title: On-Site Construction Manager – Microgrid Energy Projects (Southern California) Job Description This role leads on-site construction management for multiple microgrid energy projects across Southern California. You act as the primary field representative and liaison between subcontractors and the remote project management team, ensuring that civil and electrical construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved plans and schedules. The position is fully site-based and focuses on daily field oversight, documentation, coordination, and progress tracking for innovative energy resiliency and power generation projects. Responsibilities • Serve as the on-site Construction Manager for multiple microgrid energy projects throughout Southern California., • Act as the primary field representative and liaison between subcontractors and the remote project management team., • Monitor all construction activities and verify that work is progressing according to project plans, specifications, and schedules., • Conduct daily site walks to assess progress, identify issues, and provide clear visibility into project status., • Complete and submit detailed daily reports documenting manpower, work completed, site activities, incidents, delays, and progress updates., • Take and upload progress photos throughout the project lifecycle to support documentation and reporting., • Track construction milestones and communicate schedule updates and potential impacts to project leadership., • Review construction drawings and project documentation to fully understand project scope and field activities., • Utilize project management and document control platforms to access drawings, RFIs, project documentation, and reporting tools., • Identify field issues, safety concerns, quality concerns, and potential schedule impacts, and promptly communicate them to stakeholders., • Coordinate with subcontractors, inspectors, engineers, and other project stakeholders during critical project activities., • Attend inspections, milestone events, and key project meetings to represent on-site construction interests., • Assist in gathering information needed for RFIs and field clarifications, and support document control workflows., • Verify that construction activities align with approved plans, specifications, and quality standards., • Support installation activities involving concrete pads, transformer installation, switchboards, natural gas-powered linear generators, utility connections, and electrical infrastructure., • Work closely with electrical and plumbing contractors to ensure proper installation and integration with civil work., • Ensure adherence to construction safety practices and maintain strong site oversight., • Travel between project sites as required to support inspections, milestone activities, and critical project needs., • Provide clear, timely communication to project managers and leadership regarding site conditions, risks, and opportunities., • Contribute to delivering creative and compelling energy solutions that provide resiliency, reliability, low carbon footprints, and strong economic value for customers. Essential Skills • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Construction Management, Site Superintendent, Field Engineer, Owner’s Representative, or construction oversight roles., • Hands-on experience supporting civil and/or electrical construction projects., • Strong knowledge of construction processes, including excavation, trenching, concrete pad installation, plumbing, and electrical systems., • Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation., • Demonstrated experience documenting field activities and preparing comprehensive daily construction reports., • Strong communication skills for coordinating with project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, and other stakeholders., • Solid documentation skills, including daily reporting, progress tracking, and issue logging., • Familiarity with construction safety practices and experience providing site oversight in active construction environments., • Experience working with electrical and/or plumbing contractors on complex projects., • Strong computer skills and the ability to quickly learn and use project management and document control software., • Ability to utilize project management platforms for accessing drawings, RFIs, project documentation, and reporting tools., • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between multiple project locations in Southern California. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required., • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Technology, or a related field preferred., • Experience supporting civil, utility, energy, power generation, microgrid, industrial, or infrastructure projects., • Background in microgrid, power generation, natural gas, and utility construction is highly beneficial., • Experience using scheduling software such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar tools preferred., • Experience supporting RFI processes and document control workflows preferred., • Prior experience on energy, utility, power generation, or microgrid projects preferred., • OSHA certification preferred., • Ability to manage multiple sites and adjust to changing project priorities and timelines., • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and address field issues related to safety, quality, and schedule., • Commitment to delivering energy solutions that emphasize resiliency, reliability, reduced carbon footprint, and economic value. Work Environment This position is 100% onsite in active construction environments, with an assigned primary site and periodic travel to additional project locations. The role supports three Southern California project sites, with primary work based in either the San Diego or Fallbrook area and additional support for a site in Lompoc. You will work around civil and electrical installation activities, including concrete, trenching, utility connections, and equipment installation. The typical schedule is approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday on a day shift, aligned with construction site operations, with flexibility required to support inspections and critical project milestones as needed. Travel between sites may be required for inspections, milestone activities, and urgent project needs, with mileage reimbursement available for approved travel between project locations and occasional overnight travel for more distant sites when necessary. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $55.00/hr.
