Job DescriptionPosition Overview: The primary responsibility of the Pharmacist in Charge is to ensure adherence to facility SOP’s and procedures, adherence to state and federal regulations, and directly supervise pharmacists. The PIC will work to ensure production goals are achieved, assist with investigations, assist in daily operational pharmacy duties, monitor training and work with training/compliance team to ensure all training is up to date. This position is available in either a Full-Time or PRN position. Supervisory Responsibilities: • YesDuties/Responsibilities:, • Plan department performance to comply with company guidelines;, • Control and evaluate pharmacy performance to achieve budget objectives and maintain a high level of customer acceptance;, • Follow or adjust merchandising and pricing programs within established guidelines;, • Achieve or exceed projected labor and productivity goals;, • Review all direct and indirect department expenses;, • Provide Management with a performance to budget assessment;, • Set an example of personal integrity, appearance and ethical business practices which provides a standard of conduct for all department personnel;, • Ensure all pharmacies comply with all state and federal pharmacy laws;, • Recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and training pharmacy personnel;, • Pharmacy personnel evaluation;, • Purchasing and inventory management of all pharmaceuticals;, • Review of Third-Party Adjudications and Reconciliations to assure maximum reimbursement rates;, • The pharmacist-in-charge of any pharmacy where discrepancies are noted upon inspection by the Board, within 30 days of receiving notice of such discrepancy, shall submit in writing to the Board the steps taken or proposed to eliminate the discrepancy;, • The pharmacist-in-charge shall verify, on employment and annually, the licensure of pharmacists and the registration of technicians under their supervision;, • The pharmacist-in-charge shall maintain and file with the Board of Pharmacy, on a form provided by the board, a current list of all pharmacy technicians assisting in the provision of pharmacy services;, • The pharmacist-in-charge shall be employed by the pharmacy (not contracted), • The pharmacist-in-charge shall maintain and file with the Board of Pharmacy, on a form provided by the board, a current list of all pharmacists working within the pharmacy;, • The pharmacist-in-charge shall develop and implement written policies and procedures tospecify the duties to be performed by pharmacy technicians. The duties and responsibilities of these personnel shall be consistent with their training and experience;, • Provide highest level of patient care in providing pharmaceutical dispensing services;, • Fill prescriptions through Pharmacy Management System and promote patient communication;, • Keep abreast of new items, changing laws, regulations, and new pharmacy-related programs through participation in continuing education courses and reviewing pharmacy-related literature;, • As a pharmacist and employee, maintain good company loyalty, set a good example, and project a healthy positive attitude;, • Must be physically located at and involved with day-to-day operation of the pharmacy;, • Responsible for purchasing, receiving, storing, handling, dispensing, recordkeeping, waste, and final disposition of medications;, • Must be able to counsel patients according to state and federal requirements;, • Pharmacists have a corresponding responsibility to make sure medications are issued for a legitimate medical purpose by an individual practitioner acting in the usual course of his professional practice. Required Skills/Abilities:, • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally with patients;, • Good organizational skills and an orientation to detail is required;, • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times;, • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team;, • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills;, • Proficiency in using medical equipment and electronic health records (EHR) systems;, • Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care;, • Must be a registered and licensed pharmacist;, • Registered pharmacist or doctor of pharmacy from accredited pharmacy school;, • At least 2 years experience as a licensed pharmacist in retail or specialty pharmacy;, • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, and keyboard;, • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work;, • Light to moderate lifting may be required;, • Ability to work in a confined area;, • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.Hourly Rate: This Job Description is only a summary of the typical functions of the position or role, not an exhaustive or comprehensive list of all possible responsibilities, tasks, and duties.
