Job Description Seeking a full-time nurse (RN) to join our growing Pediatric Genetics practice located on the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Campus. Monday-Friday schedule. The Nurse will work interdependently with physicians and other care team member to provide a broad range of nursing services following established policies and protocols. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Patient Care: • Obtains patients’ medical histories and performs physical examinations; documents all findings/information., • Documents patient care orders from physician., • Triages and refers patients for further care based on severity of illness and symptoms., • Utilizes written guidelines/protocol for clinical decision making and management., • Delivers patient education as directed by physician., • Demonstrates an awareness of and sensitivity to patient/family rights., • Exhibits a high degree of courtesy, tact, and poise when interacting with patients, families, and other healthcare professionals., • Prepare patients for examination by obtaining vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints., • Charts all patient transactions in accordance with policies and procedures; writes orders and records progress notes that will be reviewed and countersigned by supervising physicians., • Orders, reads, and evaluates laboratory reports and radiology studies., • Reviews and updates patient charts, test results, and physician notes to ensure accuracy and completeness., • Develops plans of care based on patient assessment ensuring appropriate follow-up in accordance with established protocols., • Accountable to produce correspondence including: accommodation letters, school letters and documentation for physical and occupational therapy., • Communicates and works with medical staff to ensure coordinated efforts for the provision of high-quality medical treatment and patient service, • Collaborates with clinic staff and authorizations teams in the coordination of patient needs to prevent any treatment related delays., • Ensures communication between staff & physicians; responsible for arranging appointments & follow-up; serve as a front-line resource to obtain records, test results, & other clinical information., • Applies safety principles as identified by established policy., • Participates in continuing education to continually improve skills and abilities and stay abreast of current technologies/practices., • Ensures compliance with legal issues including but not limited to patient confidentiality and risk management; ensures compliance with JCAHO, federal, state, and local regulations., • Floats, covers, and provides assistance to department, other clinics, and staff members when needed or requested by leaders. QUALIFICATIONS: • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and current license to practice as a Nurse in Florida, • Current BLS certification, PALS certification required., • Two to four years related experience or equivalent. Previous experience with pediatric population strongly preferred., • Ability to understand and adhere to established policies, procedures, and protocols., • Able to work collaboratively with multiple health professionals in a busy and complex environment using tact, diplomacy, and discipline., • Strong charting/documentation skills., • Commitment to excellence and high standards, • Excellent written and oral communication skills, • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills, • Ability to manage priorities and workflow., • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm., • Acute attention to detail, • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees., • Strong interpersonal skills., • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds., • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions., • Bilingual skills a plus., • Creative, flexible, and innovative team player
