Position Summary The Plant & Facilities Manager is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of all facility infrastructure supporting indoor cannabis cultivation, post-harvest, and production operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted performance of critical building and utility systems, with primary emphasis on HVAC and environmental control. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with specialized packaged cooling and dehumidification systems, chilled water loops, cooling towers, plumbing, electrical infrastructure, and general facility utility systems, and understands how facility performance directly affects cultivation outcomes, production reliability, safety, and compliance. Familiarity with backup power systems, including diesel generators that support facility continuity during outages, is also valuable. This position requires sound judgment, strong troubleshooting ability, disciplined planning, and the ability to work cross-functionally with cultivation, production, compliance, and leadership teams. Core Responsibilities HVAC and Environmental Systems Management · Oversee the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of HVAC and environmental control systems serving cultivation, post-harvest, production, and support areas. · Maintain reliable performance of specialized packaged cooling and dehumidification units, chilled water loop infrastructure, cooling tower systems, pumps, valves, and associated controls. · Monitor and respond to environmental performance issues affecting temperature, humidity, airflow, and room stability. · Identify root causes of HVAC and dehumidification failures and coordinate timely corrective action. · Work closely with cultivation leadership to ensure facility systems support crop health, room performance, and environmental consistency. · Recommend and implement improvements that increase system reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency. Plant Infrastructure and Utilities · Oversee day-to-day operation and upkeep of all facility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, fire protection, security, and general building infrastructure. · Ensure plant systems are maintained in safe working order and capable of supporting uninterrupted operations. · Coordinate and support repair, replacement, and upgrade work involving utility systems, equipment, and facility assets. · Maintain organized records for assets, maintenance history, parts usage, equipment condition, and infrastructure needs. · Support ongoing facility readiness for cultivation and production demands. · Support the operation, inspection, and general readiness of facility backup power systems, including diesel generators used to maintain operations during utility outages. · Coordinate routine testing, service, and vendor support for backup power equipment and understand basic generator system function, troubleshooting, and emergency response procedures. Preventive Maintenance and Reliability · Develop, implement, and manage preventive maintenance programs, inspection routines, and service schedules for critical plant systems and equipment. · Build and maintain SOPs, checklists, logs, and escalation procedures for maintenance and emergency response. · Track recurring issues, analyze failure patterns, and develop practical corrective and preventive actions. · Maintain appropriate spare parts, tools, consumables, and vendor support to reduce downtime and improve response speed. · Support long-term maintenance planning and capital forecasting for major repairs and equipment replacement. Vendor, Contractor, and Project Management · Establish and maintain effective working relationships with outside vendors, contractors, and service providers supporting HVAC, plumbing, electrical, controls, fire protection, security, pest control, and general maintenance. · Obtain quotes, review scopes of work, coordinate scheduling, and verify quality and completion of contracted work. · Manage facility improvement projects, shutdown support, equipment installations, and infrastructure upgrades. · Review invoices, track maintenance-related spending, and support budget discipline for repairs, projects, and contracted services. · Provide practical field input on system design, upgrade priorities, serviceability, and ROI. Safety, Compliance, and Risk Management · Maintain the facility in compliance with internal safety standards, OSHA expectations, and applicable building and operational requirements. · Support safe work practices across all maintenance and contractor activity, including PPE use, hazard awareness, and incident prevention. · Participate in risk assessments, emergency planning, corrective actions, and continuous safety improvement. · Maintain clean, organized, and inspection-ready mechanical, utility, and support areas. · Support compliance with Nevada cannabis facility requirements as they relate to building systems, access, and operational readiness. Team Leadership and Cross-Functional Support · Work closely with cultivation, post-harvest, production, compliance, and leadership teams to align facility priorities with operational needs. · Help train, direct, and support maintenance personnel or contractors as needed. · Communicate clearly regarding equipment status, maintenance priorities, downtime risks, and project updates. · Foster a culture of accountability, responsiveness, and disciplined follow-through. · Be available to respond to facility emergencies and critical equipment issues as needed. Required Qualifications · Five or more years of facilities, plant, or maintenance management experience in cannabis, controlled environment agriculture, food manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, or another highly regulated and equipment-intensive environment. · Strong hands-on knowledge of HVAC systems, with demonstrated experience troubleshooting and maintaining climate control and dehumidification systems in sensitive production environments. · Experience with chilled water systems, cooling towers, pumps, and mechanical room infrastructure. · Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and general building utility systems. · Experience developing preventive maintenance programs, vendor relationships, SOPs, and maintenance documentation. · Strong troubleshooting ability, sound mechanical judgment, and the ability to prioritize effectively under pressure. · Strong written and verbal communication skills, organization, and follow-through. · Must be able to obtain and maintain all required Nevada cannabis agent cards applicable to the role. · OSHA 30 certification required within 60 days of hire. Preferred Qualifications · Direct experience in cannabis cultivation and/or cannabis production facilities. · Experience with specialized cultivation HVAC and dehumidification systems. · Familiarity with Agronomic IQ, GrowLink, or similar environmental and cultivation control platforms. · General working knowledge of diesel-powered backup generator systems and their role in maintaining continuity during power outages. · Experience supporting facility upgrades, commissioning, renovations, or expansion projects. Compensation and Benefits Compensation · Starting at $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits · Healthcare: Eligibility to enroll in Range Brands’ company healthcare plan · 401(k): Eligibility to participate in the company’s 401(k) plan after one year of full-time service. · PTO: 10 days of paid time off per calendar year Success Measures · Maintain reliable operation of HVAC, dehumidification, chilled water, cooling tower, backup power, and supporting utility systems with minimal unplanned downtime. · Sustain environmental consistency in cultivation and production spaces in support of plant health, product quality, and operating schedules. · Maintain organized, accurate, and current preventive maintenance records, asset logs, service schedules, and repair documentation. · Identify and resolve facility issues quickly and effectively while reducing repeat failures and reactive maintenance. · Maintain strong standards for safety, cleanliness, communication, contractor oversight, and cross-functional support. · Improve the reliability, maintainability, and overall performance of facility systems over time. Physical Requirements · Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. · Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. · Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks. · Ability to work in mechanical rooms, cultivation areas, production spaces, and varying indoor and outdoor conditions. · Visual acuity sufficient to inspect equipment, gauges, piping, electrical components, and operating conditions.
