Job Description Job Title: Marketing & Mission Advancement Coordinator Organizational Relationship: Reports to Director of Guest Services Department: Hybrid – Guest Services & Marketing Location: Whispering Winds Main Office, San Diego, CA Position Type: Full Time, Non-exempt, with benefits Pay: $22+ Hourly (depending on experience/education) Overview The Marketing & Mission Advancement Coordinator advances the mission of Whispering Winds through a blend of creative communications and direct program support. This position is responsible for developing digital content, managing social media engagement, and coordinating outreach initiatives that share the heart and impact of our ministry. The Coordinator also supports program operations and guest services by assisting with registration, event logistics, and participant communications, ensuring a seamless and welcoming experience for all who come to camp. An ideal candidate is adaptable and mission-driven, with the ability to balance marketing responsibilities with hands-on program support. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to both the visibility and hospitality of Whispering Winds within a collaborative, faith-centered environment. Qualifications • Experience in marketing, social media, communications, or nonprofit development, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Organized, detail-oriented, dependable, and deadline-driven, • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and general internet applications; willingness to learn proprietary software, • Confidence in capturing and producing photo/video content and written stories, • Strong understanding of Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, • Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Canva) and editing apps, • Positive, team-oriented attitude with willingness to learn and grow, • Ability to collaborate across departments, follow directions, and complete tasks independently, • Skilled at building strong working relationships with San Diego office staff, Julian staff, guests, volunteers, and contractors, • Open to coaching, constructive feedback, and cross-training, • Hotel, hospitality, or camping industry, • Sales or customer service, • Catholic ministry or faith-based nonprofits, • SEO or basic digital analytics Primary Responsibilities: Digital Media & Content Creation • Create, schedule, and publish engaging posts on Instagram and Facebook, • Capture and edit photo and video content for marketing and promotional purposes, • Monitor and respond to social media engagement, messages, and comments Content Management & Planning • Assist in organizing and archiving digital assets (photos, videos, testimonials), • Collaborate with the Marketing Lead to create monthly content calendars, • Support email marketing (e.g., monthly eNewsletters) with stories, visuals, and copywriting, • Stay current on nonprofit, marketing, and social media trends, • Contribute ideas in brainstorming and campaign planning Program & Guest Services Support • Build and manage program registration forms (e.g., Camp Jack, CCAs, 6th Grade Camp, Camp Arise) using JotForm, • Set up registration pages for Gala, Brunch, and other events in Tofino, • Set up Family Camp registration, payments, and housing in Campwise, • Generate invoices for Family Camp registrations, • Collect and distribute program participant details (dietary needs, lodging, shirt sizes, rosters, waivers) to Marketing and the Onsite team, • Organize program paperwork into Google Drive folders, • Gala: Maintain silent/live auction catalog with current bids, buy-now values, descriptions, photos, and certificates Community Engagement & Outreach • Help research and attend events that align with our mission (e.g., parish and school events, youth gatherings, Sunday Mass tabling), • Capture content at events for use in marketing and communications, • Coordinate with guest and rental groups to capture photos, interviews, and testimonials during their time at camp Administrative & Team Support • Greet office guests and support office hospitality, • Assist with office maintenance (e.g., Xerox copier supplies and troubleshooting), • Participate in weekly team meetings to share updates and align priorities, • Support the Marketing Director and Lead with special projects, • Based at the San Diego office with occasional travel to Julian, • Occasional weekend work for events and content capture, • Reliable transportation required, • Normal office environment with occasional lifting (up to 20 lbs.), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods Disclaimer This job description summarizes the typical duties of the role, but is not a complete list.
