Job Description REPORTS TO: Director Philanthropy Services WORK TYPE: In-person OVERVIEW: Tolleson Wealth Management's Philanthropy Services team offers expert advice and comprehensive support to families in their philanthropic pursuits. Through vehicles such as private family foundations and donor-advised funds, Tolleson provides full-service guidance in tax and estate planning, gift structuring, operations, governance, and investment strategy, ensuring effective management of philanthropic initiatives. Tolleson's Family Engagement services, including financial education, family governance, and rising generation development—provide comprehensive support for families managing complex dynamics. These services enable families to strengthen governance frameworks, cultivate effective leadership practices, and purposefully steward wealth across generations. Our approach aligns family values with actionable strategies, promoting collaboration within multigenerational households, responsible stewardship, and enduring legacy, while encouraging individual personal growth and development. The Philanthropy and Family Engagement team partners with advisors and community experts to provide families with collaborative, trusted support and lasting impact. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: • Strategic Philanthropy Advising, • Strategic Planning: Provide strategic and programmatic guidance as families design, implement, and evaluate their philanthropic strategies., • Collaboration: Partner with client families to clarify values, articulate goals, and develop individualized giving plans spanning personal giving, donor advised funds (DAF), and private foundations., • Programmatic Management: Co develop grantmaking strategies, systems, and processes aligned to mission; ensure high quality implementation and learning., • Mission Stewardship: Support boards in defining/refining mission, ensuring it informs strategy and decision making. Ensure boards are properly constituted and trained for effective governance., • Relationship Management: Manage relationships with nonprofits, foundations, and charitable trusts to ensure seamless administration, regulatory compliance, and alignment with client intent., • Philanthropy, Stewardship & Legacy: Guide families to articulate legacy intentions and connect values to action; cultivate stewardship mindsets among rising generation family members., • Governance & Administration, • Plan and facilitate board meetings; coordinate communications, materials, and logistics; drive follow through on decisions., • Monitor activities for compliance with IRS, federal, and state regulations; recommend policy/bylaw updates as needed., • Collaborate with internal and external advisors on organizational documents and governance improvements., • Prepare, review, and present periodic reports to boards and client families., • Grantmaking Management, • Act as liaison between clients and grantees; manage end to end grantmaking workflow., • Conduct diligence and site visits; prepare clear summaries and analyses for board decisions., • Administer grantee reporting protocols; review progress against requirements; establish monitoring practices to ensure effective implementation., • Family Engagement — Curriculum & Delivery, • Build, maintain, and evolve Financial Education and Family Learning curricula that are current, engaging, and actionable., • Co-design, curate, and refresh learning materials and toolkits for clients and internal teams; tailor content for family specific needs., • Lead annual content review cycles incorporating client feedback, leadership input, and compliance requirements., • Develop interactive, age appropriate learning experiences; design and facilitate Junior Advisory Boards and similar programs to engage the rising generation., • Curate and deliver personal development & growth: design experiences that build self awareness, leadership capacity, and financial confidence for individual family members., • Coordinate with internal advisors (investment, tax, estate, banking) and external experts (legal counsel, educators, coaches) to deliver cohesive, multi disciplinary learning opportunities., • Business Development, • Client Development: Identify, cultivate, and steward prospective client relationships through community engagement, strategic partnerships, and targeted networking to grow Tolleson., • Contribute to prospect/client planning sessions; identify opportunities to enhance strategy, grantmaking, and partnerships., • Serve on internal committees as needed, modeling a client centered approach., • Assist with special projects and perform other duties and responsibilities as requested., • Education & Experience, • Bachelor's degree required, advanced degree in public policy, nonprofit management, philanthropy, education, or related field preferred., • 5-10 years of meaningful experience in philanthropic advising, family foundation/DAF management, family governance/education, or related advisory roles (family office experience a plus)., • Demonstrated track record of business development or practice growth through community engagement and partnerships., • Technical & Advisory Skills, • Knowledge of charitable vehicles (DAFs, private foundations), grantmaking best practices, and IRS private foundation/501(c)(3) compliance., • Facility with governance design (mission, roles, decision rights, meeting protocols) and outcome oriented strategy development., • Strong facilitation skills across diverse ages and perspectives; ability to design age appropriate, interactive learning., • Excellent written/oral communication, executive presence, and client service orientation., • Certifications (Preferred), • Philanthropic certification preferred, such as IPA® or CAP®., • Ability to maintain extreme confidentiality in dealing with client matters, • Relationship builder with high EQ and discretion; trusted advisor who collaborates seamlessly with internal/external partners., • Strategic, organized, and proactive; comfortable managing multiple workstreams and deadlines., • Commitment to learning, inclusion, and measurable social impact., • Occasional travel for client meetings, site visits, and conferences., • Demonstrated expertise in philanthropic initiatives within Texas and Colorado, as well as familiarity with national best practices and key cohorts in philanthropy., • Ability to be proactive and anticipate issues; works quickly and proactively to solve them No calls or agencies please.
