Job Description Position Summary: The physical therapist assistant provides services aimed at preventing the onset and/or slowing the progression of conditions resulting from injury, disease, and other causes. This includes implementing the plan of care through the utilization of clinical skills and treatment interventions. The physical therapist assistant will work in a team environment along with physical therapists, other physical therapist assistants, certified athletic trainers, and other members of the health care team. Therapist assistants may also participate in community education and research activities in order to best serve our clients within our community. Qualifications: Physical therapist assistants must successfully complete a 2-year educational and clinical program from an accredited college or junior college. After graduation, physical therapist assistant candidates must pass a state-administered national exam. The state of Florida also requires licensed physical therapist assistants to have a current CPR certification along with an AIDS education certification. Physical therapist assistants must renew their licenses every two years with the stipulation that they have obtained the required number of continuing education hours.
