Job Description The Senior Manager of Procurement oversees all sourcing, purchasing, and supplier management activities for raw materials, packaging components, and indirect goods required in cosmetics manufacturing. This role ensures optimal cost, quality, compliance, and supply continuity across the company’s product portfolio. The Senior Manager of Procurement partners closely with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Operations, and Finance to support product development and manufacturing efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management • Develop and execute procurement strategies for cosmetic raw materials (e.g., pigments, emollients, surfactants, actives), packaging components (e.g., bottles, tubes, pumps, cartons), and contract manufacturing services., • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers to support innovation, reduce costs, and improve supply chain resilience., • Negotiate pricing, contracts, lead times, and supply agreements to achieve cost savings and improve terms., • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs such as OTIF, defect rates, compliance, and cost performance. Operational Procurement • Manage the purchasing lifecycle from requisition to delivery, ensuring materials meet quality, regulatory, and delivery standards., • Maintain optimal inventory levels, working with planning teams to avoid shortages or excess stock., • Oversee the procurement of materials for new product launches and promotional initiatives., • Resolve supply issues, delays, or quality problems collaboratively with suppliers and internal teams. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work with R&D and Quality to source new raw materials aligned with formulation requirements and regulatory guidelines., • Support Regulatory Affairs by ensuring supplier documentation (COAs, MSDS, allergen statements, compliance certificates) is accurate and up to date., • Collaborate with Operations and Supply Chain teams to ensure reliable material flow to manufacturing sites., • Partner with Finance to manage budgets, forecasts, and cost-saving initiatives. Compliance & Risk Management • Ensure all suppliers meet cosmetic industry standards (ISO 22716, GMP, FDA guidelines, EU regulations, etc.)., • Maintain accurate and complete documentation for audits, quality checks, and regulatory submissions., • Identify and mitigate supply risks through dual sourcing, safety stock strategies, and supplier diversification. Team Leadership (if applicable) • Lead and develop a team of buyers or procurement coordinators., • Provide coaching, performance management, and skill development., • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Chemistry, or related field., • 5+ years of procurement experience, ideally in cosmetics, personal care, pharmaceuticals, or CPG manufacturing., • Strong negotiation skills with demonstrated cost-saving achievements., • Knowledge of cosmetic raw materials, packaging supply markets, and regulatory requirements., • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)., • Strong analytical, communication, and vendor-management skills.
