Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 10/27/2025, • Duration: 18 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, nights, • Employment Type: Travel ICU Float Pool (CCFP) Location: San Diego, CA Unit Overview • Average Daily Census: 250+ across critical care units, • Float Coverage: PICU, CVICU, NICU (Level IV referral), CTICU, • Beds: 24-bed PICU, 30-bed CTICU, 60-bed NICU, • Patient Population: Neonates, Infants, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults (occasionally), Geriatrics (rare), • Shift Details:, • 12-hour shifts: 07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00, • Block scheduling, • Required weekend coverage: 4–5 Sat/Sun day shifts OR 5–6 Fri/Sat nights per 4-week schedule (traveler gets 1 full weekend off per 4 weeks), • Float required; call may be required, • Support Services: Pharmacy, Radiology, Respiratory Therapy, Phlebotomy, PT, Social Services, Rapid Response, Transportation, Unit Secretary, • Systems: Pyxis (meds), Epic (documentation), SBAR (communication), • Coverage: Intensivist, Hospitalist, NP/Fellow, Anesthesiologist, CRNA in-house 24/7Required, • Licensure/Certs: CA RN License, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, • Experience:, • 2 years PICU minimum OR strong CVICU background with float experience, • Trauma Level I or II experience, • CVP & ICP monitoring, • Ventilator management, trach care, chest tubes, intubation assist, ABG interpretation, HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, • Hemodynamic monitoring, arterial lines, vasopressors, sedation, • EVD, hydrocephalus/VP shunt, post-neurosurgery, ICP monitoring, • Central line/PICC/port care, blood products, TPN, IV therapy/phlebotomy, • Pediatric emergency medication management (Broselow, peds dosing), • Work Setting: Pediatric ICU, CVICU, NICU float, • Documentation: Epic experiencePreferred, • BSN degree, • Previous Charge RN experience, • Magnet or large teaching hospital background, • ECMO, CRRT, transplant (heart, lung, liver, pancreas) exposure, • Bone marrow/chemo monitoring experience, • Prior travel or float pool experienceUnit Notes, • Travelers may be assigned lower acuity patients initially but must be independent in ICU practice, • High volume tertiary/quaternary referral center; gold-level Beacon Award (PICU), • Procedures include post-cardiac surgery, transplants, ECMO, CRRT, advanced respiratory/neurologic care, • 1:1 or 1:2 ratios based on acuity, • 40 hours orientation provided (standardized)Other Information, • Traveler Policy: No first-time travelers (preferred prior travel/float experience), • Scrubs: Provided (any color), • Time Off: Up to 6 RFTO days if full FTE met, • RTO: Must be submitted up front with submission, • Pre-Screen: Required Founded in 2015, HonorVet Technologies stands as a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB), proudly certified by NaVOBA and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
