Job Description Position Title: B Lineman Transmission Location: DFW Metroplex TX (On-site) Employment Type: Full-Time Compensation: $30 - $45 hourly Company Introduction This role is with a respected contractor that builds, maintains, and upgrades high-voltage transmission lines for major utilities across the region. Their crews are known for strong safety practices, technical excellence, and dependable performance in demanding outdoor environments. The work directly supports grid reliability and long-term infrastructure improvement. Role Overview We're looking for a developing Transmission Lineman to support overhead transmission construction and maintenance. This is a semi-skilled position involving climbing, rigging, equipment operation, and hands-on fieldwork alongside experienced crew members. Individuals who are eager to build their transmission skills and thrive in fast-moving outdoor environments will do well here. B Linemen work under the direction of A Linemen and Foremen, gaining the experience and technical knowledge needed to advance to journey-level status. Core Responsibilities • Assist with construction, repair, and maintenance of overhead transmission structures and hardware, • Help install conductor, OPGW, shield wire, and associated components, • Support framing, assembling, and positioning steel poles and H-frame structures, • Climb poles and towers using approved fall-protection systems, • Apply proper grounding, PPE, cover-up, and clearance procedures, • Operate sideloaders, bucket trucks, digger derricks, and tensioner equipment, • Assist with troubleshooting on high-voltage transmission systems, • Read and follow blueprints, staking sheets, and work packets, • Set poles, anchors, and guy wires to specification, • Inspect rubber goods, cover, and PPE before use, • Maintain tools, trucks, equipment, and climbing gear, • Travel to various job sites and assist during storm response, • Work outdoors in all weather, at height, and in physically demanding conditions, • Minimum 3 years of field experience in transmission line construction or maintenance, • High school diploma/GED or technical training, • Valid driver's license (CDL permit required within 60 days; CDL preferred), • Ability to climb tall structures and lift 50+ lbs, • Understanding of grounding procedures, phasing sticks, and induced voltage, • Familiarity with line clearances, minimum approach distances, and flag/tag procedures, • Ability to read blueprints and work instructions, • Willingness to travel, work overtime, weekends, and holidays, • Willingness to glove/work high-voltage transmission lines, • Must be able to work outside frequently in inclement weather, • Knowledge of barehand work at 44kV and 100kV is a plus, • Experience with bucket rescue/escape procedures is beneficial, • Competitive salary based on experience, • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, • Company-paid life and long-term disability coverage, • 401(k) with employer match, • Paid holidays and PTO, • Ongoing high-voltage training and skills development, • Phone reimbursement or company-issued device, • Travel pay and per diem when working away from home
