The Senior Accountantis responsible forensuringaccuratefinancial reporting and compliance across multiple entities, with a focus on cannabis industryspecific requirements. This role manages general ledger activities, reconciliations, and reporting while overseeing accounts payable, receivable, sales, and inventory accounting in line with GAAP, IRS Section 471, and 280E. The Senior Accountant supports audits, monitors cash flow, analyzes variances and trends, andprovidesactionable insights to leadership. In addition, this role drives process improvements, strengthens internal controls,mentors'junior accountants, and partners cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, compliance, finance, and leadership teams to support organizational success. Key Responsibilities • Prepare, review, and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments., • Prepare, review, and consolidate monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliation reports across multiple entities., • Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure accuracy of financial records., • Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation., • Ensure compliance with GAAP and cannabis industry-specific accounting requirements., • Maintainaccurate records for compliance with state and local cannabis regulations (e.g., METRC, CDTFA, excise tax reporting, 280E considerations)., • Analyze variances, trends, and financial performance, providing insights to management., • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal accounting regulations., • Prepare and review intercompany reconciliations and eliminations., • Review reconciliations of AR/AP subledgers, ensuring accuracy and completeness., • Support cash flow management,monitor collections, and manage vendor payments., • Work with Operations to ensuretimely invoicing and proper revenue recognition., • Identify and resolve discrepancies in AR/AP accounts promptly. Mentor and support junior accountants, reviewingwork andproviding training where needed. * Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, finance, and leadership teams. * Oversee accounting for wholesale and retail cannabis sales transactions. * Ensureaccuraterecording of sales revenue in compliance with GAAP and cannabis regulatory requirements. * Reconcile daily sales reports to POS systems and the general ledger. * Monitorsales discounts, returns, and allowances to ensure proper financial treatment. * Support financial analysis of sales performance, trends, and profitability by product line and region. * * Oversee inventory accounting * Perform cost of goods sold (COGS) calculations in line with IRS Section 471 and 280E. * Reconcile perpetual inventory systems to the general ledger and investigate variances. * Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams tovalidate costing methodologies and ensure proper tracking of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods. * * Identify and implement process improvements to strengthen internal controls, efficiency, and accuracy in both general and cannabis-specific accounting workflows. * Mentor and support junior accountants by reviewing work, providing training, and ensuring accuracy. * Collaborate cross-functionally with compliance, retail operations, cultivation, finance, and leadership teams. * Performs work under direct supervision. * Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. * Diligent, Punctual and Ready to work! * Perform other duties as needed in support of businessobjectives assigned by supervisor. * Inventory and COGS accountingproficiency, with experience reconciling perpetual systems andvalidating costing methodologies Note:This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position. Technical Skills & Abilities: * Advanced knowledge of GAAP and cannabis-specific accounting standards, including IRS Section 471 and 280E compliance. * Financial reporting and reconciliationexpertise, including multi-entity consolidations and intercompany eliminations. * Proficiencywith accounting systems and ERP software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar platforms). * Strong Excel skills for financial modeling, variance analysis, and trend reporting. * Audit preparation and compliance management, ensuring readiness for internal and external reviews. Education & Experience: * * Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldrequired; CPA or progress toward CPA preferred. * 46 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role. * Experience in multi-entity consolidations, intercompany reconciliations, and financial reporting. * Background in a regulated industry (cannabis, pharmaceuticals, alcohol, or similar) strongly preferred. * Hands-on experience with ERP/accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, or equivalent). * Demonstratedexpertisein GAAP compliance, audit support, and process improvement initiatives. Requirements: * Must be at least 21 years of age. * Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of15 lbs. to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet. * Prolonged periods of standing, sitting at a desk, and working on a computer * Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's facilities. * Ability to get in and out ofthe vehicleand walk up and down stairs during your shift. * Must be able to stand, sit for prolonged periods of time, bend, kneel, squat, and twist.
