Job Description St. Louis Area Foodbank (SLAFB) JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Registered Dietitian Immediate Supervisor: Director of Partner and Programs Employees Supervised: None FLSA: Exempt General Description/Position Summary: People who are food and nutrition insecure are disproportionately affected by diet-related chronic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure as well as many other adverse effects to overall health. The Registered Dietician is an innovative and creative leader who advances the St. Louis Area Foodbank's vision of a nutritional secure Illinois and Missouri resulting in a healthier bi-state region. This person will develop, implement, and measure the success of the Foodbank's nutrition and wellness programs throughout our 26-county region. Expectations include serving as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) across internal departments for Supporting Wellness at Pantries (SWAP), piloting new initiatives and ensuring continuous program improvement. Additional responsibilities include supporting food distribution partners through our Healthy Pantries program, providing food safety training, conducting cooking demonstrations and creating educational newsletters, videos, and other collateral that empower neighbors to make informed choices regarding the food they eat. Objectives: • Lead the organizational vision for the Foodbank's nutrition and wellness programs., • Stay abreast of trends and research regarding best practices in nutrition and wellness in hunger relief settings., • As SME, develop and expand program plans, logic models and the utilization of tools., • Champion the SWAP program across departments., • Promote and maintain the Foodbank's Nutrition Policy., • Pilot, measure, evaluate, set goals, and ensure the continuous improvement of all nutrition and wellness programs., • Lead the development and expansion of the Foodbank's nutrition and wellness strategies through the incorporation of education, nudges and outreach into existing programs and partner models (food pantries, SNAP, health care initiatives, TEFAP, CSFP, mobile and youth programs)., • Oversee and coordinate all elements of Nutrition and Wellness education, the Healthy Pantry program, the Foodbank's Nutrition Policy, and SWAP., • In collaboration with foodbank staff and partners, use community feedback, needs assessments and data to determine nutrition and wellness related gaps. Innovate, pilot and test new initiatives to address meet identified needs., • Ensure replicable program plans, logic models and tools are created and up to date with the latest trends and best practices., • Responsible for development, ongoing implementation, continuous improvement, and measurement of the success of all nutrition and wellness activities, outreach, and curriculum., • Incorporate volunteers into all program models and develop standardized orientation, training, and supervision tools so that partners have a roadmap to support them., • Serve as a trainer for our nutrition and wellness trainings including our safe food handling training for staff members and oversee agency training., • Serve as internal SME for nutrition and wellness programs with a focus on educating and training team members, interns, volunteers and AmeriCorps members on the needs, programmatic goals, policies, and procedures., • Works cross functionally to identify outcomes and develop metrics to support and reinforce philanthropic and marketing efforts to ensure program models are resourced appropriately. Responsible for ensuring all grant requirements are met., • Assist in executing and updating annual department work plan, including budgets, calendars, goals, and tasks., • Partner with departmental leadership to craft, refine, and execute the Foodbank's Strategic Plan and Nutrition Policy., • Represent SLAFB in the community at events, committees and through networking, public relations and speaking engagements including all partnerships and committees related to nutrition and wellness., • Provide oversight and direction to volunteers, interns, and AmeriCorps members., • Culture champion who models our core values., • Attend program-related training conferences and workshops as appropriate., • Bachelors' Degree from an accredited university required. Emphasis in dietetics, nutrition, public health, or another related field., • Must be a Registered Dietitian., • 2-5 years previous experience in nutrition, food service, program management with partners and volunteers of varying socio-economic backgrounds for a non-profit organization strongly preferred. Prior experience administering a nutrition program a plus., • Bilingual a plus., • Willingness to become ServSafe Certified Manager or higher and an instructor., • Experience managing grants and meeting set deadlines and deliverables., • Prior experience with developing, writing, and executing programs, trainings and evaluation strategies strongly preferred., • Passion for the Foodbank mission and the ability to demonstrate SLAFB's Core Values: Stewardship, Teamwork, Agility and Respect, • Superior problem solving and conflict management skills., • Strong sense of business acumen and an entrepreneurial spirit., • Excellent organizational and leadership skills., • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills., • Proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other web-based applications. Experience with or the ability to quickly learn Tableau or other mapping software required., • Ability to think strategically while acting tactically., • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team., • Must have reliable transportation with proof of insurance and be willing to travel within a 125-mile radius. Occasional weekend (Saturday/Sunday) or evening hours may be required. Meeting attendance may require overnight travel. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The Registered Dietician will spend significant time in the community, at partner sites and campuses, in our warehouse and at food distributions. Requirements include: • Walking to and from the corporate office to the warehouse, both of which are on the Foodbank campus., • Walking on hard concrete surfaces (in the warehouse or in the community).
