Location: South Congress, Austin, TX Employment Type: Full-Time, In-Office Company: Moutonière Moutonière is looking for an In-House Pattern Maker to support the development of ready-to-wear and apparel collections from concept through prototype and production readiness. This is a highly technical, hands-on role requiring strong capabilities in both patternmaking and in-house prototype construction. We are looking for someone with exceptional technical rigor, strong sewing and fit expertise, and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship who is excited to help build the internal apparel development foundation of an emerging luxury house. Position Overview: This role is highly hands-on and technical, requiring someone who can translate design intent into beautifully resolved garments with precision, efficiency, and care. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in patternmaking, garment construction, fit, and product development, with the ability to move fluidly between sketch interpretation, technical documentation, prototype construction, fittings, and pattern corrections. This person will work closely with the founders and product team to help shape styles through each stage of development - ensuring they are both aesthetically exceptional and technically sound. This is a rare opportunity for someone excited by craftsmanship, technical problem-solving, and the process of building garments from the ground up within a growing luxury environment. Key Responsibilities: Patternmaking & Fit Development • Develop first patterns from flat sketches, reference materials, and design direction, • Interpret silhouette, proportion, and construction intent into accurate sample patterns, • Revise and refine patterns following fittings, prototype reviews, and internal feedback, • Execute fit corrections and pattern updates with strong attention to balance, proportion, and garment performance, • Maintain organized and accurate pattern files, development records, and version control Prototype Construction • Sew, assemble, and finish development prototypes and first samples in-house, • Evaluate construction methods and propose solutions that support both design integrity and manufacturability, • Troubleshoot technical and construction issues throughout the development process, • Support the physical realization of each garment to a high standard of quality and finish Technical Documentation • Create and update tech packs, construction notes, and technical development documentation, • Build and maintain BOMs, cutter’s musts, line sheets, and related development documents to support sampling and production, • Ensure all technical information is consistently documented and aligned across development stages Cross-Functional Product Development Support • Partner closely with design and product development to bring apparel styles from concept to production-ready stage, • Contribute to fittings and support garment refinement through multiple development rounds, • Help prepare styles for handoff to external sample rooms, grading partners, and factories, • Support the team in establishing strong internal development processes as the brand continues to grow Preferred Qualifications • Strong foundation in patternmaking, garment construction, fit development, and technical execution, • Proven ability to independently create patterns, sew prototypes, and execute fitting corrections, • Strong understanding of tailoring, luxury finishing, textile development, and product development workflows, • Experience creating tech packs and technical development documentation, • Experience with fluid fabrics (such as silk, bias, drape) and/or structured garments (such as outerwear or tailoring) strongly valued, • Degree in fashion design, technical design, or equivalent professional training preferred Exceptional early-career candidates with advanced technical training may be considered.
