PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Director of Sales & Marketing will lead the development of sales & marketing activities within the energy storage industry. The role is responsible for driving revenue growth, building credibility with customers and capturing market share by leading sales efforts and marketing initiatives. The role will work closely with business development to study the attractiveness of new markets and with product management to design and release new product solutions. The role also mobilizes independent sales representatives as required. The role contributes to a learning organization by collecting market insights and sharing with the team. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Create Sales and Marketing Strategies: Create and execute strategies to drive revenue growth and market share for energy storage products and services for various markets., • Lead Customer Acquisition: Build relationships with key stakeholders, including utilities, renewable energy developers, corporate clients, and governments, to promote and sell energy storage solutions., • Align with Product Development: Collaborate with product teams to ensure marketing and sales strategies align with the technical features, benefits, and competitive advantages of energy storage systems., • Educate the Market: Develop campaigns to raise awareness about the benefits of energy storage including resiliency, load shifting, peak shaving, grid stabilization, and demand response., • Analyze Market Trends: Monitor trends in energy storage technology, market regulations, and customer needs to identify new opportunities and refine strategies., • Drive Partnerships and Alliances: Work with the business development team to forge strategic partnerships with battery manufacturers, IoT platforms, DERMS, VPP, and other ecosystem players to expand market reach., • Support Policy and Incentive Alignment: Collaborate with policy teams to align marketing and sales efforts with incentives, rebates, and regulations that promote energy storage adoption., • Implement Data-Driven Strategies: Use CRM tools, market analytics, and customer insights to optimize lead generation, track performance, and improve conversion rates., • Support Product Launches: Support the release of new energy storage products, ensuring successful launches and market penetration., • Inspire and Lead Teams: Build and manage a high-performing sales and marketing team, fostering collaboration and driving results in a rapidly evolving and competitive market., • Pricing and Negotiation: Prepare cost and pricing studies using historical data as well as input from engineering, purchasing, product management and program managers., • Technical Support: Deliver detailed proposal packages including technical descriptions, pricing justifications & review of customer specifications noting electrical, mechanical & environmental performance requirements, as well as program-specific details., • Trade Shows: Prepare trade show and conference choreography including brand awareness, lead generation and follow up., • Other: Other duties as required or assigned. Required Skills/Abilities: • Demonstrable experience as head of sales, developing client-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions, • Previous experience as a sales executive, sales/ business development manager, • Ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of the organization, including executive and C-level, • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close, • Proven ability to articulate the distinct aspects of products and services and position against competitors, • Proactive self-starter with a creative approach. Education and Experience: • B.A./B.S. Degree, MBA a plus, • At least 10–15 years of successful revenue operations and GTM experience, ideally at a high-growth enterprise software/energy startup with a broad footprint., • 5+ years of direct management experience in Sales, Strategy, Operations, or related field., • Sales Strategy & Planning experience, including TAM assessment, segmentation, sales capacity modeling, territory design, and quota setting., • Track-record of collaborating with cross-functional partners to lead transformation and growth., • Analytical and data-driven, with demonstrated experience finding data-driven insights to improve sales productivity., • Strong project management skills including the ability to define and execute against project timeframes, dependencies, and risk factors., • Fluency with core Go-To-Market operating and metrics, including payback period, IRR, ROI, CAC, LTV, EVA, Conversion Ratios, and other Efficiency metrics.
