Job Description La Fete Patisserie-Mercer Island Full-time / $50K-$64K D.O.E. / Great benefit package including performance-based bonus Overview: La Fete, a busy French patisserie on Mercer Island, is looking for a full-time experienced Front of House (FOH) manager to join our hardworking team. This position oversees all FOH operations and staff utilizing excellent communication skills and a passionate dedication to hiring, training, supervising, and leading the FOH staff to create a fantastic customer experience, ensuring every guest feels welcome and cared for. The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and works collaboratively to create a structured and successful operation. Able to prioritize the guest experience while modeling superior guest engagement and fostering a positive work environment. Humor, compassion, professionalism, a willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic are all necessary components of this role. This is a great job for you if: • You have outstanding leadership, sales, and communication skills with a hands-on, lead-by-example approach., • You have 3-5 years of barista experience with a minimum of two years of demonstrated experience managing staff and all aspects of retail operations (scheduling, ordering, inventory control, sales, promotions/social media), • You have a basic understanding of retail bakery and coffee shops (specialty retail and organic/non-GMO food preferred)., • You are passionate about delivering excellent customer service in a personal and professional manner while inspiring excitement about the total customer experience with your team., • You have a willingness to accept feedback, learn new things, and display passion for your work with a “can-do” attitude, • You strive to maintain impeccable levels of cleanliness, have an eye for detail, and stay organized., • You have a proven track record relating to marketing and promotions, including daily deals, social media, and other creative avenues for increasing sales., • You are an experienced hospitality professional with a steady, stable employment track record, attention to detail, and outstanding social skills. Essential Functions: • Customer Experience, • Model excellent customer service and ensure the team delivers it consistently., • Build genuine connections with guests and create memorable experiences., • Possess strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to accurately assess situations and identify issues, develop possible solutions and take the appropriate courses of action., • Ensure that La Fete has the right people doing the right things in the right way to deliver a memorable experience for every customer., • Handle customer feedback with professionalism and warmth., • Team Leadership, • Hire, train, and coach FOH employees to become strong members of our team. Create a platform for involving and inspiring all employees to succeed in everything they do, ensuring team members are properly trained and fully competent in all aspects of food service and customer support., • Provide leadership for the baristas through being the example and providing training as needed. Maintain hands-on knowledge of all roles and step in regularly to perform various responsibilities as business needs dictate., • Engage frequently with team members to gain insight into workload and progress, address any challenges, and course correct as needed., • Provide continuous coaching and follow up to develop team and manage performance; deliver constructive feedback, conduct quarterly reviews, and address any performance issues in a timely, effective manner., • Regularly work FOH shifts and fill in for absent staff as needed., • Lead FOH meetings and pre-shifts, including food, beverage, and wine education., • Work with FOH staff to maximize efficiencies in service and Costs of Goods., • Promote/facilitate a team environment between FOH and BOH. We’re all pulling in the same direction!, • Operational Leadership, • Take ownership for the business performance of the patisserie., • Design and implement a comprehensive marketing and promotions program., • Oversee daily operations, including opening/closing, cash handling, and inventory control., • Monitor workflow and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and consistency., • Ensure the café is always fully stocked with products, supplies, and merchandise., • Communicate with Owner and assist in identifying and remedying concerns and any store maintenance issues., • Oversee maintenance of FOH equipment, including Point of Sale (POS) and FOH printer maintenance, and responding to issues as needed., • Have working knowledge of relevant Washington State regulations in food service and hospitality — including food safety, health codes, labor law, and workplace compliance and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe shop environment that exceeds health and safety standards., • Work with the Owner to create and maintain structured systems that set the team up for success., • Support all front-of-house roles, food & drink running, bussing tables, etc, • Keep the store clean, organized, and aligned with La Fete’s artisan style.
