The UPK Lead Teacher is responsible for the classroom and its students including day-to-day activity and learning plans, progress, safety, and well-being of the children as well as the knowledge of and compliance with all regulations as required by licensing agencies. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: • Provide planning and execution of Focus on Pre-K BPS curriculum., • Maintain records of the progress of each child's growth and development; Conduct at least 2 observations per child per month., • Maintain communication regarding child's growth and development with staff members, Program Director, and parents;, • Complete progress reports and family conferences, including observations on all children promptly quarterly, with the assistance of Teachers;, • Maintain classroom and all educational equipment and materials;, • Maintain records of all accidents, concerns regarding children, unusual behavior of children, suspected incidents of abuse and/or neglect and communicate information to Program Director and or Social Worker, • Ensure adequate nurturing of child's developmental tasks, including any special needs mandated by Protective Services;, • Schedule and participate in all staff/parent meetings;, • Schedule and facilitate team meetings;, • Coordinate staff, staff responsibilities, and staff breaks;, • Supervise teacher assistants, volunteers, and interns assigned to the classroom, • Know DEEC regulations as they pertain to your program and maintain the program in accordance with regulations;, • Be aware of and maintain the physical environment of the classroom(s);, • Be aware of and communicate to Director any repairs and maintenance issues and/or needs;, • Knowledge of all emergency procedures;, • Participate/attend monthly staff meetings/PDs including BPS-required training for UPK staff, • Participate in Individual (1:1) meetings with the program director every 2-months PSK: • Ensure children's social, physical, and cognitive needs are met., • Must be at least 21 years of age, • At least two years of work experience with Preschool- Kindergarten Children, • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Early Childhood Education or a related field, • DEEC Lead Teacher Preschool certification, • Certified in CPR and First Aid for children, • Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing, • Demonstrated ability to practice effective time management, organizational skills, priority management, and analytical ability, • Respectful of multicultural environments and individuals and families from all backgrounds, • Warm, nurturing, skilled, professional, and reliable, • Sound personal judgment, initiative, and resourceful
