Details • Mixed PCU, Med-Surg, and Oncology unit in an acute care hospital setting at a Level I Trauma Center, • 28-bed unit serving adult oncology and trauma PCU patients, • Nurse-to-patient ratios: 1:4 (PCU days), 1:5 (Med-Surg days), and 1:5–6 on nights, • Common drips include chemotherapy, heparin, cardizem, and protonix; RNs may be required to titrate insulin and cardizem drips, • Alaris IV pumps in use; Lyko lifts available in even-numbered rooms, • EMR: Epic (recent Epic experience within the last 6 months is noted during orientation, though not required), • 12-hour night shifts (7p–7a), • Every other weekend required, • Self-scheduling unit, • Floating required to same level of care (Med-Surg and PCU units), • 2-day orientation providedRequirements, • Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted, • Required certifications (active, non-pending): BLS and ACLS (AHA), ONS/ONCC, • Chemo certification preferred but not required, • Minimum 1 year of oncology and PCU experience required, • BSN not required, • Valid driver's license required for consideration (used to verify permanent address), • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, each including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire, • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility — driver's license is used to verify permanent address, • Candidates may not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity, within the past year; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be consideredAdditional Information, • Oncology patients are cared for across all stages, from diagnosis through remission and end-of-life, • Competencies in ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring (CVP, A-line, Swan, EV-1000), and ICP monitoring are relevant to this unit; real-time training is available for these skills, • Multidisciplinary team support includes nursing assistants, charge nurses, PT/OT, RN case manager, social worker, educator, and dietician, • A pass/fail open-book exam is administered during orientation; a minimum score of 90% is required to continue the assignment, • Navy blue scrubs required, • Hourly rounding is a key patient experience expectation on this unit, • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result to termination of contract, • RTO must be disclosed upfront; no more than 7 days per 13-week contract will be approved, and no additional RTO will be granted after consideration, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply American Traveler Job ID #P-702635.
