Job DescriptionPURPOSE OFPOSITION KidsTLC delivers an integrated spectrum of medical, clinical, and residential services to children and families. Youth transitioning from a higher level of care to need additional support home typically. Youth who are diverted from Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facilities are also in need of additional support in the community. The Intensive Outpatient Therapist is responsible for providing therapeutic services and treatment planning for youth placed at KidsTLC Intensive Outpatient Program. Approximately 60% of this position’s time is spent in therapeutic services, crisis management, client staffing, and collaborating with the treatment team, approximately 20% is spent in documentation, researching, gathering, compiling, organizing, and analyzing data and approximately 20% is spent utilizing equipment, computers, and databases. Tasks are performed under the direction of the Vice President of Lotus Clinics. Work performance is reviewed through formal supervision, informal supervision, reports, and evaluations. Incumbent to this position is a KidsTLC employee and subject to the KidsTLC personnel policies and procedures. This is an EOE position. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. • Develop and coordinate comprehensive individualized treatment plans with the client and family/custody provider starting at intake, consulting, and collaborating with all treatment team members (child psychiatrist, nurses, house manager, family members, direct care staff, external providers, school officials, etc.) developing relevant goals that guide the client’s treatment throughout outpatient program, discharge planning, and follow-up care., • Conduct individual, family, and group therapy sessions with youth in Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), while researching and training best practiced approaches to therapy. Staff cases weekly during clinical supervision., • Provide Clinical consultation and individualized interventions as needed. Consult with program director, clinical colleagues, psychiatrist, and youth care facilitators on a regular basis regarding clients’ behavior in the homes, offering strategies to improve behavioral functioning and collaborate on treatment; consult with family/guardian on an ongoing basis and provide written updates in coordination of treatment team service., • Provide training for incoming employees on other clinical topics as assigned. Provide ongoing training for the care facilitators as needed., • Perform other duties as assigned or requested. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES • This position has no direct reports. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE · Experience: At least two years of experience with youth who are juvenile offenders, children with severe emotional disturbances, children with behavioral disorders, and foster children preferred. Experience working with a variety of populations (parents, adolescents, pre-adolescents). Excellent writing and computer skills are preferred. · Education: Must be licensed or temporary licensed by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as a marriage and family therapist (LMFT or LCMFT); psychologist or clinical psychotherapist (LMLP, LCP, or LP); professional counselor (LPC or LCPC); or social worker (LMSW or LSCSW). Task Statements of Critical Functions: 1. Develop and coordinate a comprehensive Individualized Treatment Plan · Consults and collaborates with all team members to gather relevant information at intake to provide a provisional diagnosis, and assessment summary. · Provide child psychiatrist with relevant intake history and clinical observations to collaborate on treatment and a “working diagnosis.” · Monitor treatment plan, scheduling and implementing monthly treatment reviews, if applicable. · Monitor and manage the documentation and maintenance of complete and accurate written records for client caseload. · Establish and maintain positive working relationships with all treatment team members, including family members, community social service agencies, social service workers, KDOC/JIAC case managers, community corrections agencies, mental health professionals, law enforcement, educators, and KidsTLC staff. 2. Conduct individual, family, and group therapy sessions with youth in IOP treatment. · Research, implement, and utilize best-practiced therapeutic models, focusing on best-practiced family models whenever possible. · Stay attentive to how changes in the child’s internal environment (e.g., biological cycles, emotions, medications, etc.) impact the child’s interactions with their external environment (e.g., relationship to family, staff) and vice versa. 3. Conduct CARES (Caregiving Attitudes Reinforced by Education and Support) sessions. · Provide education and support to youth and their caregivers through utilizing CARES program material/handouts. · Coordinate and collaborate with KidsTLC group facilitators and parent leaders to define group goals, model healthy relationships, determine the meeting agenda, and ensure meetings occur on a consistent basis. · Facilitate a sense of trust by ensuring confidentiality in a non-judgmental environment within the limits of the law. · Expand working knowledge of community resource information to guarantee that a healthy family development is made available to all group members. · Promote respect and safety through collaboration to learn and practice non-violent methods for relating to one another and parenting. Participants and group facilitators honor the needs of each other, providing enough time for each participant’s input, respecting cultural traditions and values. 4. Maintain accurate and timely documentation. · Complete intakes, Treatment Plans, Updates, Progress Notes, Service Notes and Discharge Summaries in a timely manner. · Review daily progress notes documentation and incorporate into treatment updates. · Coordinate and collaborate on the treatment goals with all members of the team, accessing signatures whenever possible. 5. Provide Clinical Consultation and Interventions as needed. · Consult with group home managers and direct care staff on a regular basis, e.g., weekly staffing. · Integrate with the overall agency Treatment Program by providing more individualized, clinical interventions when necessary. 6. Ongoing training of staff in non-reactive/crisis management. · Assist in the provision of crisis management during and throughout program hours. · Reviews crisis situations on a weekly basis at staffing meetings, when needed. 7. Develop, monitor, and maintain high quality clinical record keeping. · Stay on top of training offered within KidsTLC agency. · Complete all required services and records within the time specified in KidsTLC agency policies. 8. Provide training in relevant clinical topics as assigned. · Provide ongoing training for direct care staff in areas such as common youth diagnoses and related behaviors. · Training to external agencies as requested. · Indicate computer and software skills.
