Job Description UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is the largest Orthopaedic group in Western New York. We are currently hiring for Full time and Part time Physical Therapy Assistants at all of our Physical Therapy locations: • 111 North Maplemere, Williamsville, • 5102 Transit Road, Depew/Lancaster, • 5959 Big Tree Road, Orchard Park JOB DUTIES • Read all physical therapy documentation, including initial examination and plan of care., • Note indications, contraindications, precautions and safety considerations for the patient., • Note goals and expected outcomes., • Seek clarification from physical therapist, as needed, • Review information in the medical record at each visit, including:, • Monitor medical record for changes in medical status and/or medical procedures., • Collect data on patient’s current condition, compare results to previously collected data and safety parameters established by the physical therapist, and determine if the safety parameters have been met., • Seek clarification from appropriate health professions’ staff for unfamiliar or ambiguous information., • Identify when the directed interventions are either beyond the scope of work or personal scope of work of the PTA., • Communicate to the physical therapist when there are significant changes in the patient’s medical status, physician referral, or when the criticality and complexity of the patient is beyond the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the PTA., • Explain the rationale for selected interventions to achieve patient goals as identified in the plan of care, • Provide interventions compliant with federal and state licensing requirements, APTA standards documents (eg, Guide for Conduct for the PTA, Code of Ethics), and facility policies and procedures., • Assure safety of patient and self throughout patient care., • Identify the need for and take action when safety of patient or self may be at risk or has been compromised., • Utilize risk management strategies (eg, universal precautions, body mechanics)., • Assure patient privacy, rights, and dignity; position/drape patients to protect modesty. Must follow established procedures to maintain compliance with the privacy and security provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ("HIPAA") regarding viewing, printing, sending, faxing, verbally stating or otherwise transmitting in any form the protected health information of patients., • Provide competent physical therapy interventions, including therapeutic exercise, balance coordination and agility training, body mechanics and postural stabilization, flexibility exercises, gait and locomotion training, neuromotor development training, relaxation, strength power and endurance training, functional training in self-care and home management, manual therapy, application and adjustment of assistive devices, application and adjustment of physical agents and electrotherapeutic modalities,, • Document in writing/electronically patient care using language that is accurate, complete, legible, timely, and consistent with institutional, legal, and billing requirements., • Follow all safety, CPR, and emergency procedures., • Adhere to the following Behavioral Expectations:, • Accountability, • Altruism, • Compassion and Caring, • Cultural Competence, • Duty, • Integrity, • Social Responsibility, • Respects and protects the confidentiality of all patient and Company information through the adherence of all HIPAA guidelines and regulations. Will frequently communicate with patients, staff, and provider; must be able to exchange accurate information. WORK ENVIRONMENT Work is performed primarily in a clinical setting, with light to moderate noise levels. Job Description Job Summary UBMD Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is looking for a Physician Assistant to join our Orthocare Clinic. Applicants must be a graduate of an accredited PA program. Current or Pending NYS license required. This is an excellent opportunity for seasoned PA's with urgent care experience, as well as PA's new to Orthopaedics. All levels of experience are encouraged to apply, including current students and new grads. Job Description The Physician Assistant is responsible for promoting and maintaining health by providing quality medical services under the supervision of a Physician through the identification of short-term and long-range patient care issues and recommending options and course of action while implementing physician directives. This is a full time, exempt position in our Urgent Care Clinic (Orthocare). Responsibilities include patient screenings, and patient assessments within an urgent care setting. Candidates must be comfortable seeing patients of all ages performing typical urgent care procedures; suturing, wound repair, ortho splinting, casting, etc. Prior urgent care or emergency medicine experience is a plus, but not required. The position requires a professional person with excellent clinical and communication skills who has the ability to work autonomously. Duties • Elicits a detailed and accurate patient health history and performs a physical examination; records these along with progress notes in the patient’s charts., • Determines abnormal conditions by ordering diagnostic tests such as X-rays, EKG’s and basic laboratory studies and interprets test results., • Formulates an initial diagnosis, therapeutic plan and treatment., • Provides fracture care including reductions, operative vs. non-operative care, splint, suture, and staple applications/removals., • Performs such routine therapeutic procedures as intramuscular injections, immunizations, wound care, joint aspirations, joint injections, and incision and drainage of superficial infections., • Answers all patients phone calls regarding the clinic. Triages as appropriate., • Completes all forms and required paper., • Facilitate referrals when needed., • Performs as first or second surgical assist during operation., • Rounds at hospitals as required by Physician., • Complies with Federal, State, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, and enforcing adherence to requirements., • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed., • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by obtaining required CME’s, reviewing professional publications, and participating in professional societies., • Respects and protects the confidentiality of all patient and Company information through the adherence of all HIPAA guidelines and regulations., • Assumes other duties as requested by Physician. Qualifications • Education Requirements, • Master’s degree, along with successful completion of a NYS or ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant Program.
