Job Description Objective: The EHS Field Technician (Civil/Infrastructure) will be responsible for the administration of Safety & Health programs along with Client site specific standards for field crews and any subcontractors. In accordance with these plans, they will conduct daily safety audits, ensure all personnel comply with Company and client site safety rules and regulations, and maintain appropriate safety logs, documentation and record keeping. Will assist at a minimum in preparing and delivering safety training. Primary Qualifications: • Worked at least 5 years in construction/civil as full-time safety professional., • Has a certificate or degree in a safety related field (OHST, CHST, ASP, CST, etc.) • Proven and competent experience with OSHA 1926 and OSHA 1910., • Competent Person in the requirements and experience for lifting, rigging and hoisting using excavators. • Expert in soil classification, excavations, trenching, shoring, sloping, benching and trench boxes. • Expert in fall protection and prevention methods., • Expert in incident/accident investigations., • Experienced at working with and around large earthmoving equipment., • Outgoing, approachable and adept in public speaking., • Strong written skills and attention to detail in spelling, grammar and punctuation are required. • Adept at using computers, tablets and other technologies., • Bilingual in English/Spanish required. Primary Responsibilities: • Administer Company safety & health programs, client site specific standards at the field level in coordination with the Company EHS Director and EHS Manager, keeping them fully informed of any issues and seeking guidance and input as required., • Actively participate in daily JSA/PTP meetings., • Audit crew permits and other safety related/required documents on a daily basis. • Conduct daily and ongoing documented safety inspections of the project site(s) and public areas and take necessary and timely corrective action(s) to eliminate unsafe acts and/or conditions. • Record observations as directed using the Safety Inspection reporting tools., • Ensure all site personnel comply with Federal, State and local laws and regulations, client, and company regulations, policies, and procedures., • The EHS Field Technician has the responsibility and authority to immediately correct unsafe conditions and unsafe practices, including suspending work until the unsafe condition or practice is corrected and meets all safety requirements., • Take the lead, working together with the Company Superintendents, Foremen, client safety representatives and crew to investigate near misses/incidents to determine facts necessary for corrective action to prevent recurrence and ensure investigations are completed in a timely manner., • The EHS Field Technician shall be experienced in testing and monitoring procedures and hazards. They shall use, inspect, and maintain testing devices and safety equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions. Testing and inspection records/certifications shall be maintained at onsite and be made available upon request by the Client’s Representative., • Support and deliver employee training on programs related to OSHA, client and Company standards. • Work jointly and collaboratively with the Company EHS Department, other safety representatives and Operations to improve operational efficiencies and reduce safety related costs and incidents. • Conduct daily on-site reviews and audits of operations for all assigned locations. • Develop recommended corrective actions and provide photographs to support audit findings and good practices., • Ensure that the following are posted at a project site location visible to all personnel: emergency procedures, emergency phone numbers, job safety and health poster, and Notice of Workers’ Compensation Compliance, other local required postings, if any., • Stay up to date with current and emerging technical and professional aspects of this position. • Manage Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) ordering, stock and dispensation to employees. • Perform additional related duties as assigned. Abilities, Knowledge and Skills Required: • The ability to balance multiple tasks, along with strong communication skills (written and verbal) is essential., • The ability to perform work outside in the elements for extended periods of time. • The ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time., • The ability to stoop, bend, kneel and climb., • The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. multiple times a day., • Safe driving skills with a clean driving record., • Approachable, outgoing and comfortable speaking in front of audiences., • Adept in the use of computers, smart phones, tablets, internet browsers and Microsoft Office products. • Passion for safety and teamwork, flexibility, integrity, and honesty., • Quantitative and practical intellect, and detail oriented with a tenacious focus on results. • Excellent organizational skills., • Ability to work independently and self-motivated., • Able to multi-task and adapt to changing conditions,, • Professional appearance with a positive attitude and a team approach. Training and Education: • 5 years of experience as a safety professional in civil/infrastructure construction, or equivalent. • Required: OSHT, CHST, ASP, CSP or other BSCP recognized safety related designation and education. • Required: Bi-lingual, English/Spanish (fluent in reading, writing and speaking.), • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the safety field. • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. • Preferred has OSHA 30 Construction (the Company can provide this training, but it preferred you already have a valid card that is less than 3 years old). Compensation package: • $92,000 annual salary - exempt position (no overtime), • $110/per diem for all days worked, 7 days a week (this project only) unless holiday or vacation time is taken. Per diem is not paid on holidays or vacation days., • 401K match at 4% after 60 days of employment, immediate vesting., • Full medical, dental and vision benefits after 60 days of employment. Schedule: • This position requires a working schedule of Monday-Saturday and occasional Sunday work. Typically, the hours are 10 per day, but could be more depending on the daily needs of the project. • Paid holidays are New Year's, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas. (NOTE: per diem is not paid on these days.)
