Job Description Job Title: Nurse Manager – Medical-Surgical Unit Employment Type: Full-Time | Permanent Shift: Days | No Weekends Location: Irving, Texas About the Opportunity A respected 99-bed hospital in the Irving, Texas area is seeking an experienced Nurse Manager – Med-Surg to provide 24/7 leadership and operational oversight of a dynamic Medical-Surgical department. This facility is known for delivering comprehensive services including trauma care, cardiovascular services, orthopedics, spine and robotic surgery, women’s services, and emergency care. This is a key leadership role focused on clinical excellence, operational efficiency, and team development within a patient-centered environment. Position Summary The Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Medical-Surgical unit. This includes ensuring alignment with the hospital’s mission, vision, and strategic goals while maintaining a strong focus on quality outcomes, staff engagement, financial stewardship, and patient satisfaction. Responsibilities * Provide 24/7 leadership and accountability for departmental operations. * Oversee daily operations including staffing, scheduling, payroll, hiring, performance evaluations, coaching, and competency validation. * Ensure high-quality, safe patient care in alignment with regulatory and accreditation standards. * Monitor department performance metrics, patient outcomes, and financial performance. * Develop and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. * Support strategic planning and continuous process improvement initiatives. * Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture. Qualifications Education: * Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Licensure: * Active Texas RN license or Compact RN license (eNLC compliant). Experience: * Previous recent Department Director or Nurse Manager experience required. * A strong Clinical Nurse Coordinator (CNC) ready to transition into a Manager role will also be considered. * Minimum 2+ years of recent acute care Medical-Surgical experience required.
