About Your Role CMTS is seeking a highly motivated QA Civil Inspector Airfield Infrastructure / Electrical to support aviation infrastructure projects in Tampa, FL. This role is responsible for performing quality assurance inspections on active airfield and airport construction projects to ensure compliance with FAA standards, project specifications, operational safety requirements, and quality control procedures. Required Education High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred Education Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field Required Certifications OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Preferred Certifications NICET ACI FAA Airfield Electrical Inspections ICC Required Qualifications 715 years of QA/QC inspection or civil construction inspection experience supporting aviation or heavy civil infrastructure projects Strong experience with runway and taxiway construction projects Experience inspecting grading, excavation, drainage systems, utility installations, concrete paving, and asphalt paving operations Knowledge of FAA airfield construction standards and advisory circulars Experience with airfield electrical systems including runway lighting, taxiway lighting, conduit systems, duct banks, signage, vault systems, and navigational aid infrastructure Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, schedules, testing reports, and technical documents Experience documenting field observations, deficiencies, punch list items, and corrective actions Strong understanding of OSHA safety regulations and active airfield operational safety requirements Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams Ability to work in active airfield operational environments and coordinate with airport stakeholders Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting airport Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects Familiarity with FAA, FDOT, ASTM, AASHTO, and MUTCD standards Experience utilizing digital inspection and reporting platforms Experience with aviation construction phasing and operational safety coordination Previous experience on airport infrastructure projects valued at $50M+ Key Responsibilities Perform QA inspections for aviation and airfield infrastructure construction projects to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, FAA requirements, and quality standards Conduct field inspections and monitor contractor activities associated with runway, taxiway, apron, utility, drainage, and paving construction operations Inspect grading, excavation, earthwork, concrete paving, asphalt paving, and underground utility installations Monitor installation of airfield electrical systems including conduit, duct banks, runway lighting, taxiway lighting, signage, and related infrastructure Review construction drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, schedules, and testing reports related to QA/QC activities Coordinate with contractors, construction managers, engineers, testing laboratories, airport operations, and project stakeholders regarding quality and compliance issues Document inspection activities, field observations, deficiencies, corrective actions, and non-conformance items through written reports and digital reporting systems Verify corrective actions and conduct follow-up inspections to confirm compliance with project requirements Monitor contractor compliance with approved quality control plans, operational safety requirements, environmental requirements, and FAA safety standards Participate in project meetings, safety meetings, and progress meetings as required Assist with punch list activities and project closeout documentation Maintain organized inspection reports, testing documentation, photographs, and quality records Support operational coordination and construction sequencing in active airport environments Build and maintain positive working relationships with project stakeholders and airport personnel Preferred Skills / Abilities Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to identify non-conforming work and support resolution efforts collaboratively Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong interpersonal and communication skills Ability to manage multiple inspection activities simultaneously in fast-paced environments Familiarity with Procore, e-Builder, Bluebeam Revu, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and BIM 360 What You Can Expect from CMTS Opportunity to support large-scale aviation infrastructure programs Collaborative and growth-focused work environment Competitive compensation and benefits 100% employer-paid medical, dental, vision, life, and long-term disability insurance 401(k) and professional development opportunities Compensation $62.00 per hour Apply Now https://cmtsllc.com/careers/ Equal Employment Opportunity CMTS, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer that does not discriminate based on actual or perceived race, creed, color, religion, alienage or national origin, ancestry, citizenship status, age, disability or handicap, sex, marital status, pregnancy, veteran status, sexual orientation, genetic information, arrest record, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local laws.
