Job DescriptionJob Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description This role focuses on performing preventive and corrective maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other mechanical components. The Maintenance Technician ensures facilities remain safe, reliable, and fully operational by diagnosing issues, completing repairs, and coordinating with external contractors when needed. The position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while delivering timely and effective service. Responsibilities • Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related building systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life., • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems to restore proper function., • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and complete repairs in a timely and efficient manner., • Inspect buildings and premises regularly to identify safety hazards and perform necessary maintenance to eliminate or mitigate those hazards., • Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and maintenance tasks that require outside expertise., • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company policies, procedures, and safety standards., • Maintain an organized inventory of supplies, parts, and tools needed for repair and maintenance tasks., • Document all maintenance and repair work accurately and maintain logs for future reference and compliance., • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assigned tasks., • Communicate clearly with internal stakeholders and provide courteous, professional customer service.Essential Skills, • 5–7 years of experience in building maintenance or facilities maintenance., • Hands-on experience with HVAC systems, including HVAC troubleshooting and preventive maintenance., • Strong background in plumbing and electrical systems, including diagnosis and repair., • Experience working with mechanical systems, including hydraulics and pneumatics., • Proficiency in the use of hand tools and power tools for maintenance and repair work., • Ability to independently diagnose issues and perform repairs with minimal supervision., • Good communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with building occupants and stakeholders., • Demonstrated commitment to working safely and following established safety standards and procedures.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience in general building and facilities maintenance across multiple systems., • Ability to maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation., • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively., • Customer service mindset with a focus on responsiveness and reliability.Why Work Here? Work Environment This is an on-site role in a large facility environment where you will work directly with building systems and equipment such as HVAC units, electrical panels, plumbing infrastructure, and mechanical components. The position follows a first-shift schedule, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You will use a variety of hand and power tools, and you will work both independently and alongside contractors and internal teams. The environment emphasizes safety, adherence to policies and procedures, and consistent, reliable facility operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Horseheads, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
