The Food Bank of the Southern Tier (FBST) is hiring a Food Sourcing & Procurement Manager to lead all food and related product sourcing efforts across wholesale, donated, government, and Feeding America channels. This role ensures we maintain a reliable, cost-effective, and nutritionally appropriate food supply to serve agencies, mobile distributions, youth initiatives, and specialty programs throughout our six-county region. What You’ll Do • Lead and execute all food sourcing and procurement activities across wholesale, donated, government, and Feeding America acquisition channels to ensure a reliable and cost-efficient product mix., • Oversee compliance with The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), the Hunger Prevention and Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP), Feeding America standards, and all applicable state and federal procurement regulations., • Conduct competitive bidding processes and evaluate vendors to ensure best-value purchasing aligned with organizational policy., • Monitor product availability, pricing trends, seasonal supply shifts, and allocation patterns to prevent shortages and reduce surplus., • Develop and strengthen relationships with farmers, retailers, distributors, processors, and food donors to expand both purchased and donated inventory channels., • Coordinate inbound freight, delivery scheduling, and transportation tracking to improve efficiency and control costs., • Collaborate cross-functionally with operational, program, and finance teams to align sourcing decisions with nutrition priorities, inventory capacity, and budget constraints., • Lead the agency feedback process to improve product selection, reduce surplus or low-demand inventory, and support equitable food access., • Source non-food operational and program supplies in accordance with procurement policy and established approval processes. Who You Are • Experienced in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, agriculture, food systems, or related fields., • A strong negotiator who builds trusted vendor and donor relationships., • Analytical and detail-oriented, comfortable tracking budgets, trends, and compliance requirements., • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment., • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel., • Mission-driven and committed to advancing equitable access to nutritious food. Job Summary The Food Sourcing & Procurement Manager leads and executes all food and related product sourcing activities for the Food Bank of the Southern Tier (FBST), ensuring a reliable, cost-efficient, and nutritionally appropriate supply to support agency distribution, mobile food programs, youth initiatives, and specialty programs. This role oversees procurement across wholesale, donated, government, and Feeding America acquisition channels while maintaining strong vendor and donor relationships and aligning sourcing decisions with organizational priorities. In addition to food procurement, the Manager is responsible for the cost-effective sourcing of non-food operational supplies, including office, warehouse, janitorial, hygiene, and program materials. The Manager ensures all procurement activities comply with organizational procurement policies, competitive bidding requirements, and applicable state and federal regulations. Through data-driven analysis, cross-department collaboration, and proactive inventory planning, this role aligns sourcing decisions with program priorities, nutrition standards, operational capacity, and budget constraints. Serving as the organizational lead for food acquisition, inbound freight oversight, and agency feedback integration, the Food Sourcing & Procurement Manager drives continuous improvement in cost efficiency, vendor performance, inventory flow, and mission-aligned product selection to support the Food Bank’s commitment to equitable and sustainable food access throughout the region.
