Brief Description MAIN FUNCTION: Performs quality diagnostic ultrasound studies and provides support services at an expert level. The scope of practice includes all associated procedures and exams. Duties And Responsibilities ** • Perform both high-quality inpatient and outpatient adult echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, and transesophageal echocardiograms in accordance with IAC guidelines, using AOMC established protocols. ** • Perform inpatient neonatal echocardiograms., • Achieve and maintain working knowledge and understanding of cardiac anatomy and physiology. ** • Administer ultrasound enhancement agent per protocol in accordance with the sonographer scope of practice and annual competency. ** • Perform agitated saline studies per protocol in accordance with the sonographer scope of practice and annual competency. ** • Document and appropriately charge all studies performed in the electronic medical record (EMR). ** • Document preliminary findings utilizing the picture archiving and communication system (PACS). ** • Provide reading cardiologist with preliminary findings in a timely manner after completion of study.
