Job DescriptionSalary: $24.00 Hourly Seeking.... Promotora/Promotor Comunitaria/o Level 1 to conducting outreach and educational activities to FFN caregivers of children that provide them with information on disaster preparedness relief and recovery training to address the impact of the LA County fires. This position will recruit participants and assist the FFN Coordinator with educational sessions in the community. Title:Promotora/Promotor Comunitaria/o Level 1 Reports to:FFN Coordinator FLSA Status:Non-Exempt Position Status:Temporary, Part Time, Hourly Starting Wage Range: $24 per hour Effective Date:March 2026, ending on or before June 30, 2026 Primary Location:Primarily in the field in Los Angeles County and some time spent at VyCs LA Office. Required Travel:Ability to travel locally within the assigned region and visit multiple sites within a single workday as needed. Schedule:Up to 106 hours for the contract period. Variable work schedule including shifts on weekends and evenings. Position Summary Under the supervision of the FFN Coordinator, the Promotora/Promotor Comunitaria/o Level 1 is responsible for conducting outreach and educational activities to FFN caregivers of children that provide them with information on disaster preparedness relief and recovery training to address the impact of the LA County fires. This position will recruit participants and assist the FFN Coordinator with educational sessions in the community. Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities Community Outreach, Engagement & Participant Support • Identify and secure community spaces and groups to conduct project activities in Los Angeles County., • Organize listening sessions with Promotores and FFN (Family, Friend, and Neighbor) providers to gather information and share resources and training opportunities., • Assist the FFN Coordinator in facilitating educational sessions with the community., • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and files on all outreach and educational activities conducted., • Consistently meet all assigned productivity and outcome goals., • In all activities, comply with all contracts, funder requirements, and VyC procedures and policies., • Provide support to other departments as needed., • Attend all scheduled meetings with the project team, as needed., • Represent VyC at meetings or trainings with the sponsoring entity, as requested by management., • Work with vendors, contractors, and consultants to achieve departmental goals, as needed and available., • Provide general and administrative support to management and designated staff as requested., • Other duties as assigned. Required Competencies Education/Experience • A minimum of one (1) year of experience working with monolingual and/or bilingual Latino communities., • Ability to collaborate closely and across all VyC departments with a wide range of staff, community members, partner agencies, and funders., • Understanding of the Promotora Model or other community leadership models and its role in creating health equity, nationally and internationally., • Demonstrated verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills., • Attention to detail, organizational abilities, and effective establishment of priorities., • Experience conducting successful outreach in diverse settings., • Experience in providing outreach and educational activities to adults., • Proficiencyin leading andfacilitatingengaging discussions and educational presentations for both small and large groups., • Ability to listen actively and with empathy., • Ability to understand the emotions andneeds of participants and to communicate clearly, respectfully, and appropriately., • Demonstrated verbal and written communication,presentation, and interpersonal skills., • Because of the population served,the ability to read, write and speak fluently inboth English andSpanish isrequired. Computer Skills • Basiccomputer skills in wordprocessing, email, calendar scheduling, and presentation software, for the purpose of performing data entry during events, sending, and receiving email, calendar scheduling, and running presentations., • Ability to create materials for virtual presentations using PowerPoint, Canva, or other software., • Ability to organize and conduct focus groups on virtual platforms if needed (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, orWebEx). Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations • Valid Drivers License or the ability to utilize a reliable alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions., • Valid automobile liability insurance required if driving. Work Environment • This joboperatesprimarily in the field which requires traveling to community members locations within local neighborhoods including meetings in public spaces like local libraries, clubhouse/rec rooms, community centers, partners offices, resource fairs, etc. Some work will be required from our Los Angeles Office., • Brief exposure to the elements (cold, rain, wind, sun) while traveling to and from locations and entering and exiting facilities is possible., • The noise level in these various work environments is typicallyquietto moderate.
