About the Role: As an Aircraft Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for developing processes and procedures to maintain and enhance JSX’s maintenance programs. This includes creating repairs and alterations based on technical data and maintenance specifications related to Embraer and ATR aircraft. You will collaborate with engineers, technical experts, and cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative solutions that improve the reliability, performance, and safety of our fleet. A Day in the Life: Your day will be fast-paced and deeply collaborative, focused on ensuring our fleet operates safely, efficiently, and in full compliance. Typical responsibilities include: • Engineering Support: Partner closely with Line and Heavy Maintenance teams to provide hands-on engineering expertise and ensure all aircraft systems perform at peak reliability., • Troubleshooting & Documentation: Develop detailed troubleshooting guidance and technical documents to support Maintenance Control, Line Maintenance, and Hangar Maintenance teams in resolving avionics and system issues., • Regulatory Compliance: Lead by example to ensure all maintenance and engineering activities are conducted in strict adherence to FAA, EPA, OSHA, and JSX policies, as well as approved aircraft manuals., • Safety Leadership: Champion safety as the top priority, protecting both aircraft integrity and personnel well-being in every task., • AOG Support: Provide after-hours engineering support to quickly resolve Aircraft on Ground (AOG) situations and return aircraft to service safely., • Fleet Inspections: Generate and oversee Fleet Campaign Inspections (FCIs) to ensure timely and thorough completion of all inspection requirements., • Service Bulletin Review: Evaluate manufacturers’ service information (SBs, SLs, etc.) to determine applicability, impact, and recommended actions for the JSX fleet., • Engineering Proposals: Prepare and present engineering proposals to the Maintenance Review Board (MRB) as needed to support operational improvements., • Modifications & Repairs: Develop Engineering Orders (EOs) covering modifications, major alterations, and major repairs, ensuring proper classification and documentation of all work performed., • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Attend daily Tech Ops meetings and weekly MRB sessions to stay aligned on fleet priorities, initiatives, and ongoing projects., • Technical Liaison: Act as a key point of contact with aircraft, engine, and component manufacturers to obtain technical support, data, and engineering solutions., • Be Part of a Team That Values You: Join a tight-knit, supportive team of professionals who are passionate about aviation and committed to safety and excellence., • No Two Days Are the Same: From troubleshooting to routine checks, you’ll enjoy a fast-paced, engaging work environment., • Make a Tangible Impact: Your leadership, strategic thinking, and operational expertise directly contribute to maintenance readiness and the overall efficiency of flight operations. We’re looking for someone who is: • Detail-Oriented: You understand that precision matters – especially when it comes to aircraft performance., • Critical Thinker: You can quickly assess situations and make sound, safety-first decisions., • Collaborative: You know how to work seamlessly with cross-functional teams., • Proactive: You don’t just react – you anticipate issues and take the initiative to address them after they escalate., • Safety-Oriented: You instinctively prioritize safety in every action and hold yourself and others accountable to the highest safety standards., • Engineering degree from an accredited 4-year university and/or equivalent working experience., • Knowledge of aircraft systems and software requirements for Flight Management Systems., • Knowledge of aircraft systems and software requirements for Flight Management Systems., • 2-5 years engineering experience related to aircraft systems, modification and troubleshooting., • Part 121 or Part 135 operations experience., • Hands on Technical and Maintenance experience., • 2D or 3D modeling experience., • Knowledge of maintenance and engineering systems., • Embraer systems training., • ATR systems training., • ATR 42/72, • Embraer 145/135, • Ability to research and develop processes/procedures based on engineering data., • Understanding of maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, and aircraft drawings., • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously., • Strong presentation skills to lead department initiatives and projects., • Excellent verbal and technical writing skills., • Flexible to work weekends and/or holidays., • Willing and able to travel as needed to support the operation., • Research Service Bulletins and fleet applicability., • Evaluate cost, reliability and operational impact of aircraft systems., • Ability to collaborate and work intricately within a department., • Understanding of regulatory compliance., • Ability to troubleshoot and develop repair criteria with inspection requirements on system components. Pay & Perks: Compensation is $75,000 - $85,000/annual.
