SUMMARY Grand Sierra Resort and Casino is seeking a talented and qualified individual to serve as Security Director. This position will oversee all facets of the Security department, comprised of armed (SRT Security Response Team) and unarmed security officers. The applicant must have previous Security leadership/management experience, proven organizational skills, exceptional guest service, and problem-solving skills. The Security Director will ensure a safe, hospitable, smooth, and efficient operation. This role is highly visible and interacts with sponsors, vendors, clients, guests, and GSR Management. Ideal candidate always leads by example and provides the highest level of guest service to all guests, vendors and team members. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: • Provide the guidance, direction, and leadership to ensure responsive, knowledgeable and courteous service by protecting not only the property, but also the safety of guests and team members through observing, reporting and taking action., • Maintain strict confidentiality of incidents and those involved., • Provide strategic direction for the day-to-day operation of the Security team and be a liaison of information from executives to officers., • Receive incident notifications and communicates up-channels to executives; review manager and officer reports to ensure all pertinent information is included., • Implement, review, and update written polies and procedures, and aligns these P&Ps with methods of training and evaluation., • Document positive performance as well as disciplinary actions of officers, following departmental and company policies., • Review daily Activity Log containing information of incidents that occurred on shift., • Be observant in all areas inside/outside of the hotel & casino for safety concerns or suspicious circumstances., • Oversee, implement and conduct training courses to ensure officers are current on security tactics., • Understand Principles of Deescalation, Use of Force, Behavioral Tendencies and Operational Risk Management (ORM)., • Deploy Security Response Team (SRT) and Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), ensuring performance of their daily responsibilities as applied to team members, guest safety and care., • Use good judgment, reason and a calm demeanor when approaching a disgruntled individual. In the event of a confrontation, separate the involved people without getting hurt or escalating the situation., • Initiate, follow-through and finalize assigned investigations, interviews and subsequent reports by asking questions pertinent to the situation such as who, what, where, why, how, etc., in order to gather sufficient details to thoroughly satisfy investigation/report requirements., • Use a computer report writing system to complete reports and be able to follow through on any given report., • Make constant contact with both guests and team members to provide optimal service. This includes contact with various hotel & casino departments to provide/obtain pertinent information needed for guest service, investigations, etc., • Respond to all suspicious, unusual or emergency situations using the appropriate escalation of force, up to and including armed response by following established protocols., • Liaise with outside law enforcement and maintain good communications skills and professionalism with agencies such as Police Officials, Local Task Forces, Fire Department, FBI, Secret Service and Governmental Officials., • Participate in interviews and make hiring decisions for the Security department., • Any other duties as assigned within the scope of this position. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with the ability to accurately document security incidents., • A high-level understanding of interpersonal skills to deal productively with business contacts and team members at all levels of the company., • Understanding of basic firearms, non-lethal weapons, arming, and use of assigned equipment., • Possess strong attention to detail and the ability to identify anomalies in daily operations., • Effectively present information and respond to questions from GSR managers, staff, clients, and the general public., • Ability to maintain professionalism is required when interacting with other GSR departments and outside agencies., • Ability to work with interruptions and to perform multiple tasks while remaining collected in high-pressure situations., • Ability of simple math, and complex reading, writing, and task completion skills is required., • Ability to keep information and reports well organized so information is easily retained and accessible., • Must have the following skills: clerical, compiling, coordination, analyzing, supervising, instructing, driving, precision working, following instructions, influencing others, memorization, problem solving, independent judgment, and decision making., • Flexible to work all shifts including holidays, nights, and weekend hours as business needs dictate., • Must be a minimum of 21 years of age. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of previous progressive security leadership experience in a resort/casino, law enforcement, or public service is required, or any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES • Must be able to maintain appropriate Gaming License & Alcohol Awareness card., • Valid driver’s license and must produce acceptable driving record from DMV annually to present to management to remain in position. PHYSICAL DEMANDS • While performing the duties of this job, the team member may be constantly standing and walking, occasionally sitting, reaching overhead, bending over, crouching, kneeling, and climbing, and frequently balancing during the duration of their shift., • Depending on the assignment of the designated shift, the team member must be able to lift/carry and push/pull up to 25lbs or less frequently, or up to 100lbs occasionally., • Depending on the assignment of the designated shift, the team member may be frequently driving., • The team member will constantly have repetitive use of both feet and hands and require frequent light and occasional firm/strong grasping motions. Finger dexterity of both hands will be occasionally required., • Constant use of vision abilities is required including distance, depth perception, field of vision, and color vision., • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
