Job Description Summary This position is primarily responsible for assisting the COP Services Director in overseeing the service delivery of the Comprehensive Outpatient services and supervising the counseling staff. The Assistant Director will also be a primary source of service delivery. The Assistant Director reports directly to the COP Services Director. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • In addition to knowledge of SUD’s, demonstrates strong knowledge of MAT and harm reduction principles., • As necessary, assists with scheduling and completing assessments and intake processes arriving at treatment recommendations and level of care decisions that are appropriate to participant’s level of functioning and medical necessity., • As necessary, completes psychosocial assessments as necessary., • As indicated, develops initial and comprehensive individualized treatment plans based on participant needs, using participant’s words, and that have measurable objectives, within established timelines, based on assessment, psychosocial, participant’s assessed stage of change, and in consultation with participant and treatment team as appropriate., • Manages a small caseload of participants when necessary., • Provides individual counseling based on treatment plan and person centered needs., • Conducts group counseling., • Conducts evidence based practices to the individual needs of the participants (including but not limited to, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)., • Attends to participant needs in a thorough and timely manner and responds to participant feedback/suggestions., • Is attuned to the presence of trauma indicators and projects safety and trust in the professional relationship., • Provides crisis intervention services as needed., • Is aware of client’s compliance with medication, vocational and medical appointments and addresses all non-compliant issues., • Encourages family involvement when appropriate., • Recognizes, responds to, high risk factors including suicidal and homicidal ideation., • Recognizes, responds to, and defuses volatile or dangerous situations as allowable; when in doubt will always call for assistance and/or 911., • Consults with other legal and treatment agencies and individuals as needed., • Attends staff meetings and team conferences., • Acts as liaison with networking/referring agencies, e.g.; Courts, Parole, Probation, ACCESS, etc., • Follows established Federal, State and Elmcor guidelines on confidentiality., • Maintains current knowledge base on counseling issues regarding substance abuse, MATS, and psychosocial disorders., • Supervises counseling staff., • Makes caseload assignments., • Monitors participant’s progress to gauge success of intervention(s)., • Instructs counseling staff in appropriate and billable clinical documentation; reviews, approves and makes recommendations to clinical documentation., • Assists in ensuring record keeping is accurate and timely., • Ensures billing documentation is accurate and submitted timely., • Interfaces with insurance companies to substantiate need for extended services., • Maintains and monitors monthly data, and along with COP Services Director reviews trends, having it inform treatment practices., • Develops resources for providing services outside the facility., • Along with COP Services Director, evaluates staff training needs and schedules departmental trainings. Will also conduct trainings., • Co-leads and/or leads departmental meetings., • Responsible for oversight of OASAS Client Data System reporting., • Monitors program census and assists in development and implementation of recruitment strategies., • Represents COP Director in his/her absence., • Participates in case conferences and managerial meetings., • Assists COP Director in supervising, training and addressing staff issues., • Interviews perspective candidates., • Assists in determining staff evaluations., • Addresses staff/participant complaints and assists in resolving them., • In conjunction with the leadership team, assists in maintaining confidentiality, ethics and professional conduct throughout the agency., • Maintains a climate which attracts, keeps, and motivates a staff of top-quality people., • Participates in fundraising activities., • Assists with organizing and implementing agency wide events., • May be required to work evenings and weekends. Education and/or Experience: • MS degree and licensure from an accredited college with a major in counseling, psychology, social work or a human services related discipline and 1 years’ experience working with applicable populations who have substance abuse disorders., • Must have computer skills. Evenings and some weekends required. Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
