MHS is hiring Flex Transitional Living Assistants (FTLA) to live with and supervise high school seniors in campus residence buildings in Hershey, PA. FTLA’s mentor MHS seniors to ensure they develop the life skills necessary for success post-graduation – whether they are entering post-secondary education, the military, or the world of work. FTLA's prepare students for the challenges they’ll face by role-modeling life skills and teaching self-responsibility, goal setting, planning & prioritization, time management, personal finance, and interpersonal skills - including appropriate dating behavior and managing peer pressure. Other responsibilities include creating and supervising evening & weekend recreational activities, taking students to Sunday chapel services, and collaborating with fellow staff members to continually evaluate and enhance the program. Additionally, FTLA’s provide coverage in MHS’s students homes as needed. This is a year-round position, working a schedule of 9 consecutive days, followed by 3 days off. Compensation includes a minimum annual salary of $48,799 plus a benefits package. Housing & utilities are provided. Up to $2,800 in relocation assistance is available. The Violence Interrupter develops strong relationships with people in the neighborhood who are known to be or likely to be involved in gun violence, to learn about and mediate issues and conflicts, and to stop escalation to gun violence. He/she must be comfortable on the streets when and where violence is likely to erupt, and must have and maintain the confidence of gang members and other perpetrators of violence. The majority of these clients are diagnosed with mental illness, some dually with chemical addictions. The supervisor must review the corrected progress note no later than 3 days after it is received., • When a caseworker is going on vacation, progress notes for all events must be submitted to supervisor by 5:00 PM, 2 weekdays before vacation begins., • The Director will monitor the timeliness of progress notes and the review process., • Caseworkers, Supervisors, Directors, and Secretaries will attend all mandated trainings regarding case recording., • Supervisors will schedule weekly conferences with caseworkers to specifically discuss each case and to review caseworkers’ interventions Qualifications: • Good knowledge of the principles and practices of social casework., • Good knowledge of the laws, rules, and regulations governing the care and treatment of children., • Experience related to services to families and children, preferably medical or child welfare related, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in order to effectively provide direction and counseling to clients and maintain all required documentation., • Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients, relatives, and other individuals and to obtain and verify information needed through interviews and investigation., • Ability to prepare clear, accurate, and comprehensive case records and to reach logical conclusions based on pertinent regulations and information. Minimum Requirements: • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field (Human Services, Psychology, or Sociology)., • A valid NYS Driver’s License if using personal vehicle or agency vehicle to drive on agency business. Travel Requirements: This position is in Brooklyn, NY with some travel to other boroughs.
