Job DescriptionDescription: Type: Regular, Full-Time Status: Non-Exempt Location: Fresno, CA Days/Times: M-F; 9:00 am – 5:30 pm Salary Range: $21.00 (entry level) - $29.40 based on experience Reports to: Child Advocacy Manager SUMMARY: The Child Advocate supports the mission of the Marjaree Mason Center by providing safe, developmentally appropriate, and trauma-informed care to children impacted by domestic violence. As part of the Child Advocacy team, this role designs and leads educational and social-emotional activities, offers respite childcare, and fosters positive parent-child interactions. The Child Advocate ensures a clean, secure environment, maintains accurate documentation, manages program supplies, and supports compliance with grant and reporting requirements. This role collaborates with internal teams and community partners, participates in events, and stays current on best practices in child development and domestic violence support. A strong commitment to confidentiality, diversity, and trauma-informed care is essential. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: • Designs and implements activities focusing on educational, social-emotional, and developmental needs of children at a variety of developmental stages; to support the overall vision, mission, and values of the organization., • Ensures that all areas are clean, safe, and secure, including client confidentiality., • Provides respite childcare for a diverse community of children (individuals, sibling sets, and groups), • Facilitates planned group and individual activities for families and children, assessment, documentation, and other child case management information for case managers., • Foster meaningful parent-child connections by designing and delivering engaging activities through dedicated parent coaching and bonding activities., • Maintain accurate inventory levels of supplies and equipment for programs. Organize donations, evaluate needs, and communicate with marketing to ensure needs are shared., • Participate and provide logistical support for events in partnership with community organizations and volunteers., • Understanding of contract and grant compliance as it pertains to the program. Provide reports to community partners as required., • Collaborates with social service providers to provide community resources for clients and submit referrals for client support based on needs., • Stay current on best practices in child development, safe child care practices, and domestic violence education; participate in relevant training and professional development., • Maintain accurate program documentation and collect data for attendance, children's safety, surveys, etc, to evaluate impact. Regularly assess program effectiveness and recommend improvements based on feedback and data analysis., • Work in collaboration with all other departments and programs to ensure knowledge of the services provided by the organization as well as the ability to provide program support for other departments as needed., • Works collaboratively with colleagues throughout the organization in order to model and support effective cross-departmental partnerships, trauma-informed practices, resiliency-building, and commitment to diversity and inclusion., • Adheres to all organizations' and programs' policies and procedures., • Performs duties that are required of a Mandated Reporter of Suspected Child Abuse., • Communicates regularly and provides written program updates to the manager about program activities, outcomes, and community engagement., • Attend department and agency-wide meetings as required., • Complete other duties as assigned. Requirements: REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: ? Associate Degree in child development, family science, or closely related field. ? One to two years’ experience in a child care setting and/or courses in child development, preferred. ? One to two years’ experience and training working in a shelter environment preferred.Must have REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND TESTS: ? Possession of a valid California driver's license and proof of liability insurance on personal auto. ? Must be insurable at all times at standard rate by MMC insurance carrier. ? Must successfully pass a drug, background and Tuberculosis test. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE POSITION: ? Deep interest in and commitment to the mission and vision of MMC with a sensitivity to domestic violence. ? Demonstrated ability to work with sensitivity and without discrimination towards peoples of diverse cultures, races/ethnicities, socio/economic positions, ages, religions, and genders, physical, mental challenges, disabilities, and sexual orientations. ? Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and terminology. Demonstrated ability to use current business software applications, ? Must be flexible, adaptable, a creative thinker and problem solver who is also open to the insight of others. ? Work well in a team-oriented environment and collaboratively in cross-disciplinary teams and culturally diverse internal/external constituencies. ? ? Ability to prepare timely, proper, clear, and concise comprehensive reports, summaries, presentations, correspondence, and other documentation. ? Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely both verbally and in writing in English. Bilingual in Hmong, Spanish, or Punjabi is a plus.
