Given to our client’s specialised culinary techniques and culturally significant nature of traditional South Asian confectionery and savoury preparation, the engagement of a professionally trained Chef is imperative for the business. The role is critical in preserving the authenticity, consistency, and high-quality standards of the company’s product offerings. In addition to enhancing operational efficiency within the kitchen, the position will support the business in responding to growing consumer demand and facilitating innovation in its product range.
Key Duties of the required job role: 1. Select and inspect ingredients, including dairy, grains, and spices, to ensure freshness and suitability for traditional sweet and savoury production. 2. Prepare, cook, and present a variety of mithai (sweets) such as barfi, laddoo, jalebi, and savoury items like samosas and pakoras using authentic recipes. 3. Plan and rotate the product range on display to reflect seasonal demands and customer preferences. 4. Supervise and train kitchen assistants in food preparation, safe handling, and presentation standards. 5. Ensure that hygiene protocols and food safety regulations are strictly followed in all stages of production. 6. Maintain a clean and organised kitchen environment, including managing utensils and equipment cleaning routines. 7. Monitor inventory levels of key ingredients and coordinate timely reordering to avoid disruptions in production. Required Skills and Qualifications: 1. Minimum GCSE-level education or equivalent 2. Good command of spoken and written English 3. At least 1 year of experience in a similar culinary role 4. Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent 5. Knowledge of traditional South Asian sweets and savoury preparation techniques 6. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment 7. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality 8. Ability to supervise and support junior kitchen staff 9. Understanding of kitchen health and safety procedures
