Typical Duties:
Installation: Installing new gas appliances like boilers, cookers, and fires.
Maintenance: Servicing, repairing, and maintaining existing gas systems.
Fault Finding: Diagnosing and repairing faults in gas appliances and heating systems.
Safety Checks: Conducting safety inspections and issuing gas safety certificates.
Customer Service: Providing advice to customers on gas safety and energy efficiency, and potentially offering additional cover options.
Emergency Response: Responding to emergency calls related to gas leaks and breakdowns.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Gas Safe Registered Engineer:
Holding a valid Gas Safe license is a mandatory requirement for all gas engineers in the UK, according to Gas Safe Registry.
Accredited Training:
Completion of accredited training courses and qualifications in gas engineering.
Practical Experience:
Demonstrated experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing gas appliances.
Relevant Qualifications:
Qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Gas Engineering or equivalent may be required.
Knowledge of Regulations:
A thorough understanding of relevant regulations, standards, and safety procedures.
Customer Communication Skills:
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with customers, explaining work procedures and providing advice.
Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to diagnose and resolve complex issues related to gas systems.
Health and Safety Awareness:
A strong understanding of health and safety procedures and risk assessments related to gas work.
