Trainee Vessel Inspector Location: Stoney StantonHours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm (40 hours per week)Work Pattern: Onsite, 5 days per weekSalary: £29,000, with structured pay progression through training Are you looking to build a long-term career in engineering and gas safety with a clear training pathway and development plan? Calor is looking for a Trainee Vessel Inspector to join our team at Stoney Stanton. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with gas experience who wants to develop specialist skills in vessel inspection, safety compliance, and pressure systems within a structured training programme. What You’ll Be Doing As a Trainee Vessel Inspector, you will be trained in all aspects of bulk vessel inspection to ensure the safety, quality, and compliance of LPG tanks before they are delivered to depots and customers. Your role will include: • Inspecting new and refurbished LPG vessels for quality, integrity, and safety compliance, • Checking vessels for leaks and ensuring all safety devices are operational, • Gas charging and de-gassing vessels in line with procedures, • Recording and managing vessel movements using computer systems (SAP or similar), • Supporting yard operations and maintaining high standards of housekeeping and safety, • Working both indoors and outdoors in a hands-on operational environment This role offers a clear route to competency with: • A structured three-year training programme, • Practical and written assessments, • Internal authorisation to carry out inspection and gas-related work, • Ongoing support from experienced inspectors and the wider engineering team Working Hours & Breaks • Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 4:30pm, • Morning break: 15 minutes, • Lunch break: 30 minutes (between 12:30pm – 1:30pm) Essential: • Minimum 1 year experience working with gas systems, • Good computer and administrative skills (record keeping is a key part of the role), • Strong focus on health & safety and attention to detail, • Willingness to complete a structured training programme, • Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors, • Organised, reliable, and able to work as part of a team, • Engineering background or qualification, • Experience with pressure systems or tanks, • Long-term career opportunity in a specialist engineering role, • Structured training and development with pay progression, • Stable Monday–Friday working hours, • Supportive team environment, • Opportunity to gain recognised internal authorisations and qualifications, • Full Calor PPE provided, including fleeces, coats, warm hats and weather gear, • On-site parking, • On-site canteen (open until 1:30pm), • Vending machines available throughout the day, • Wellness facilities, including shower rooms and secure lockers, • Tea and coffee available in the mess room, • A friendly team-based working environment, • 25 days annual leave + 8 bank holidays, • Private Medical Insurance, • Matched pension contributions 4.5% rising to 7.5% after 2 years’ service, • Life Assurance (4x salary), • Cycle to Work Scheme If you’re looking for a hands-on role with real responsibility, structured training, and a clear future pathway, we’d love to hear from you.
