About the role: We’re looking for an HV Operations Engineer to join our Project Delivery team. Working across the UK, you’ll be the senior technical authority on site, responsible for all HV/LV electrical activities from LV, up to 132kV. You’ll oversee installation, testing, commissioning and fault diagnosis, while managing specialist subcontractors and ensuring full compliance with safety rules and NERS requirements. You’ll work across a mix of ICP projects, mainly in the renewable/net zero sector. Key responsibilities: • Act as site Authorised Person (AP): Issue permits, oversee switching, enforce safe systems of work, • Lead HV/LV installation, testing, commissioning and fault finding on switchgear, transformers, and cables up to 132kV, • Carry out protection configuration and testing (G99/G100, SCADA, inter-tripping), • Review and approve RAMS and point-of-work risk assessments, • Manage and coordinate specialist electrical subcontractors on site, • Conduct NERS and SHEQ audits to maintain compliance, • Work with Project Managers to deliver to budget, programme and milestone payments, • Identify and manage variations through company procedures, • Liaise with clients, DNOs, and suppliers, representing the company professionally on site, • Produce accurate equipment assessment and works completion reports What you’ll need: Essential: • 5+ years’ site experience in HV/LV electrical works (LV to 132kV), • Current HV AP or SAP qualifications (33kV minimum – training to 132kV available), • Proven experience in installation, testing, commissioning, and fault diagnosis, • Working knowledge of protection systems including G99/G100, • Strong understanding of UK H&S legislation, CDM, and electrical regulations, • Experience working to SHEQ standards and Safe Systems of Work, • Relevant electrical qualification (BEng/BSc, HND, or NVQ Level 4/5 with experience), • IOSH or SMSTS certification Desirable: • Experience with a DNO, IDNO, or National Grid, • Background in renewable generation or battery storage projects, • Familiarity with NERS requirements for ICPs, • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001, • NEBOSH certification Core skills: • Accountability & ownership: Own site outcomes, rectify defects proactively, and hold subcontractors to account for quality and safety., • Commercial awareness: Protect budget and programme by managing variations and hitting milestone payments., • Communication & influence: Represent the company professionally and challenge unsafe practices with authority and respect., • Problem-solving & decision making: Diagnose faults quickly and make sound decisions under pressure balancing safety, quality, and programme deadlines., • Collaboration & teamwork: Work effectively across the project team and foster a positive, collaborative site culture.
