CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator – Sliding Head Location: Rugby, Warwickshire Evening Shift: 14:00– Midnight (Monday to Thursday) Contract: Permanent | Full Time The Opportunity An established precision engineering manufacturer is looking to recruit an experienced CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator (Sliding Head) to support continued growth across high-quality, technically demanding production work. This role offers long-term stability, modern CNC machinery, and the opportunity to work with complex components across a wide range of materials, including aluminium, mild steel, titanium and Inconel. Key Responsibilities • Programming, setting and operating Sliding Head CNC Turning Centres, • Editing and proving out programs using Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls, • Producing first-off components in line with engineering drawings and quality standards, • Completing full machine set-ups, including tooling, bar feeders, bushes and collets, • Managing tooling, offsets, counters and in-process inspection during production runs, • Supporting NPI activities, including program prove-outs and process optimisation, • Carrying out in-process and final inspection using first-principles measurement, shadowgraphs, Vici Vision and OGP systems, • Completing daily production and setting records accurately within the scheduling system, • Monitoring production rates and escalating issues where required, • Carrying out TPM activities (daily, weekly and monthly machine maintenance), • Maintaining a clean, organised work area in line with 5S standards, • Working closely with Production, Quality and Continuous Improvement teams Candidate Requirements • Proven experience as a CNC Programmer / Setter / Operator (Sliding Head), • Strong background in Sliding Head Turning, ideally on Citizen M Series and/or Star SR/SB/SL machines., • Experience programming Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls, • Strong knowledge of machining strategies, tooling selection and cutting data, • Confident working with a wide range of materials, • High attention to detail with a strong quality-focused mindset, • Ability to manage workload, prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure, • Professional, collaborative approach with strong communication skills Benefits • Four-day working week (Monday – Thursday), • Stable, long-term role within a well-invested precision Engineering environment, • Opportunity to work on technically challenging, precision components., • Supportive team culture with a focus on continuous improvement
