The Project Manager leads the delivery of the Electrical, Mechanical, Public Health, Fire, Telecoms and BEMs design associated with area packages of the Old Oak Common Station Project, one of the UK’s largest and most complex infrastructure developments and a key interchange for High Speed 2. Leading multi-disciplinary design teams, the role directs and coordinates design, engineering, and stakeholder activities to ensure the project is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in line with quality and regulatory requirements. Liaise with Working Chargehands to ensure on-road engineering performance is within target, ensuring clear communication and data capture. Ensure adherence of the team to working instructions, health & safety regulations, quality procedures and environmental systems Ensure necessary resources are available to the team at the required time; e.g. parts, consumables, tooling, equipment Ensure work documentation is issued and records are correctly compiled, signed off and maintained. Root cause and target areas of improvement within fleet reliability by focusing on breakdown reduction, planned maintenance and lost mileage. Health & Safety: Ensure that all staff within the garage fully understand and comply with company and statutory requirements in terms of Health & Safety and operating procedures. Customer: To ensure that the depot peak vehicle requirement is achieved on a daily basis and to ensure that all vehicles supplied for service are cleaned and maintained to a high standard that exceeds the statutory requirements set out by DVSA. Quality: Assisting the Engineering Manager in ensuring necessary vehicle availability to meet contractual obligations whilst guaranteeing that all vehicles are maintained to the statutory requirements set out by DVSA. Ensure work documentation is issued and records are correctly compiled, signed off and maintained. Supervising all mechanical and electrical engineers within the Engineering function, identifying training needs and technical competencies. Ensuring technical staff are held responsible for the work they produce and encouraging a culture of individual and team ownership of all quality processes. Continuous Improvement: Reducing waste and supporting Continuous Improvement and increased efficiency wherever possible. People : Manage and support all aspects of staff management including recruitment and on-boarding, performance management and reviews, development, skills gap analysis, technical competencies, ER matters (relating to sickness, absences, grievances, disciplinary, etc), contract hours, rosters, leave arrangements, etc, in line with policies and procedures. Liaise with the Engineering Manager and escalates as necessary. Ensuring all staff adhere to Company policies, procedures and formal Union agreements. Ensure communication/comments from staff are considered, acted upon if applicable and communicated back. A strong Engineering background with proven experience in maintenance, repair and overhaul of heavy vehicle, equipment and/or machinery, preferably with knowledge and/or experience of the Bus/HGV industry Ideal candidates will have served a recognised apprenticeship or hold a vocational qualification in a relevant mechanical, electrical engineering, or similar field. Alternatively educated to degree level or diploma in an engineering /vehicle maintenance discipline Good knowledge of Health & Safety and leads by example in the adherence to related working policies, practices and procedures (IOSH) Ability to lead and supervise a team and individuals to bring out the best of their abilities to ensure a safe and effective working environment is maintained.
