A building services engineering consultancy based in Bradford is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing design team. The business delivers mechanical, electrical, and sustainable design solutions across commercial, residential, education, and public sector projects, with a strong reputation for technical excellence and client-focused service. The Role This is a design-led position, responsible for producing high-quality technical drawings and specifications while contributing to project delivery and supporting junior team members. The role offers a clear progression pathway to Associate Director level within 18-24 months for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities • Produce detailed mechanical building services designs and technical drawings using AutoCAD, • Prepare calculations, specifications, and reports to support project delivery, • Collaborate with colleagues across mechanical and electrical disciplines to ensure integrated designs, • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the team, • Ensure compliance with British Standards, industry regulations, and client requirements, • Attend project meetings, liaising with clients, contractors, and external consultants, • Support the implementation of sustainable and low-energy design solutions, • Contribute to quality assurance processes and continuous improvement initiatives Key Requirements • Proven experience in a mechanical design role within building services, • Proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience advantageous), • Strong knowledge of HVAC, heating, and ventilation systems, • Good understanding of current building regulations and design standards, • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively, • Strong communication and collaboration skills, • Ambition to take on leadership responsibilities and progress into a senior position What’s on Offer • Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 (depending on experience), • Clear progression route to Associate Director level, • Opportunity to work across diverse projects within a supportive and growing team, • Professional development and mentorship opportunities, • A role that combines technical design with leadership development
