The EC&I (Electrical, Control, and Instrumentation) Engineer will help to define and implement the right strategy, identify relevant standards, and ensure compliance with legislation and corporate standards, to help meet the safety objectives of the UK and French terminals in terms of Power, Control and Safety Instrumented Systems. The role will be nominally based in our main offices in Sunbury but will require frequent travel / time spent in each of our terminal sites in the UK and France. * Implement asset strategies and technical requirements for all Electrical Power, Control and Safety Instrumented Systems including but not limited to HV & LV distribution systems & associated equipment, Motors, plant control philosophies, systems, equipment and field instrumentation, Safety Instrumented systems and associated Functional Safety Management Systems * Develop, manage and control the inspection and testing of Power distribution systems and Electrical equipment including ATEX * Ensure the maintenance of adequate records (including Electrical drawings) and work histories for major items of plant, equipment and systems * Accountable for reviewing and approving inspection reports declaring assets fit for service or otherwise based upon inspection and condition reports * Ensure Functional Safety Assessments and the adequate maintenance of all Function Safety Management Systems in accordance with BP and industry standards whichever are more onerous. * Share and implement industry engineering best practice and changes in statutory engineering requirements. * Provide technical advice and project engineering support for the terminals, terminal manager and Maintenance teams on all aspects of EC&I engineering matters * Act as the Technical lead giving assurance to S&OR Engineering Authority that relevant ETP’s / STP’s have been complied with. * Act as focal point for regulator enquiries regarding EC&I and SIS technical integrity of terminal assets. * Liaise closely with HSSE team and provide technical advice when required. * Control the Automation System Digital Security as single point of accountability for the terminals (Cyber SPA). Carry out self-verification and conformance reporting. * Participation in internal and external audits and inspections. Address identified gaps and findings and implement the agreed action plans * Participation in the Self Verification program. Propose corrective actions and track them to completion Essential Education: * University degree in Electrical/ Instruments or Controls Essential Experience / Skills: * Relevant EC&I Engineering experience in the Oil & Gas or Chemical industry * Experience and knowledge of Electrical distribution systems, control systems, ATEX and SIS * Knowledge of Terminals and the storage and handling of bulk petroleum products an advantage * Knowledge of process control network architecture, IT/OT environments * Pragmatic approach to problem solving * Fluent in English * Desirable: Functional safety qualification (Functional Safety Practitioner/expert, IEC 61508 & 61511) Desirable Education / Experience / Skills: * Chartered engineer status or working towards * Functional safety qualification (Functional Safety Practitioner/expert, IEC 61508 & 61511) * Knowledge of process control network architecture, IT/OT environments * French speaking / reading skills At bp, we support our people to grow in a diverse and exciting environment. Make your mark in Risk Engineering: As a Power Generation Risk Engineer you will help deliver profit by using your extensive industry experience for the delivery of sound risk selection advice for our underwriters. You will also provide excellent loss prevention advice for our clients to help avoid losses and ensure business continuity. How you'll make an impact: • Perform both operational and construction field surveys of Powergen sites, determine inherent risk and audit all departments to verify effectiveness of risk prevention and mitigation controls, • Develop loss prevention recommendations, to reduce the risk of property damage and business interruption., • Present survey results to site management focusing on the risk analysis, conclusions and loss prevention recommendations., • Complete report writing in an accurate and timely fashion using AIG report format, loss estimation methods and software, and AIG risk rating tools., • Carry out desk top risk analysis by reviewing, interpreting and summarizing third party, technical risk information., • Explain survey and desk top analysis to your underwriters., • Manage survey programs for your assigned industry clients, including service plan development, service co-ordination, report reviews & stewardship meetings., • Produce Account Summary Reports (ASRs) and explain them to your underwriters so they can make effective underwriting decisions., • Peer review completed survey reports & account reviews., • At least 10 years of industrial experience in power plant operations, engineering or Maintenance, or within a boiler/gas turbine or electrical transformer manufacturer., • Strong Health, Safety and Environmental awareness.
