Job Title: HR Assistant Location: Shrewsbury Job Type: Full-time, Permanent 37.5 hrs Monday to Friday. Salary: Competitive and depending on experience About the role Our client is an established Accountancy Firm in Shropshire and are looking for a proactive and organised HR Assistant to support the day-to-day delivery of their HR operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their HR career within a professional services environment. You will work closely with the HR Manager and People and Culture Lead, to ensure smooth HR administration, compliance with employment legislation, and a positive employee experience across the firm. Key responsibilities • Supporting end-to-end recruitment processes including job postings, screening CVs, interview coordination, obtaining references and onboarding of new starters, • Maintaining and updating employee records and HR databases accurately, • Preparing employment documents such as contracts, offer letters, and policy updates, • Assisting with absence management and time off and holiday tracking within the HRIS systems, • Ensuring compliance with UK employment law and internal HR procedures, • Responsible for managing Health and Safety and Wellbeing policies and procedures for the Company, • Co-ordination of Training and Development opportunities. Supporting trainees through their relevant programmes, logging CPD hours, and helping organise internal training, • Play an active role in and the organisation of CSR activities, • Handling general HR queries from staff in a professional and confidential manner. Being a friendly first point of contact for HR‑related questions and supporting Line Managers., • Assisting with annual appraisals and monitoring probation periods, • Assisting with the marketing strategy for the People & Culture function to increase employer recognition and brand (marketing tasks), • Liaising with the Lead of People & Culture to strengthen the internal culture through employee recognition, collaboration and communication, • Identify areas to streamline HR processes’ and procedures through automation and efficiencies You will have • A minimum of two years experience in a similar HR role - ideally within a professional services or financial environment, • An understanding of UK employment law and data protection, • Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail, • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, • Strong experience of using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience of HRIS would be desirable, • The ability to handle sensitive information with discretion, • CIPD Level 3 (or working towards) is desirable but not essential, • A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn Benefits • Competitive salary and pension scheme, • 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays, • Onsite canteen, • Friendly and supportive team culture, • Flexibility, • Central Shrewsbury office location with good transport links If you are looking for a new challenge within a supportive and forward-thinking practice based in Shropshire or would like more information we would love to hear from you.
