Waste Team Leader \n Chemring Countermeasures is a world leading and innovative company, designing and developing countermeasure solutions to armed forces throughout the world. We are part of the Chemring Group of companies and have a solid global infrastructure, which also helps us to thrive. \n Overview of the role \n Supervisor for the waste team and co-ordination of waste operations across site. Responsible for delivering safe disposal and removal of hazardous, nonhazardous and specialist waste. Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all matters of hazardous and non-hazardous waste management. \n Responsibilities \n\n • Plan, coordinate and facilitate daily routine and non routine waste operations, ensuring safe and efficient delivery of services by the Waste Technician’s\n, • Ensure waste is handled, segregated, stored, packaged, labelled, moved and disposed of in accordance with site procedures and regulatory requirements\n, • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation across all waste and recycling areas\n, • Monitor waste volumes and coordinate collections, ensuring all documentation (e.g. transfer notes, consignment notes) is completed accurately and remains fully traceable.\n, • Manage waste related visitors and contractors on site, including Permit to work processes, ensuring all activities are carried out safely and in compliance with site requirements.\n, • Develop, implement and maintain waste related QMS documentation (Work Instructions, Risk Assessments, Policy’s etc) and deliver training and toolbox talks to support compliance.\n, • Respond to and manage waste-related incidents (e.g. spills, mis-segregation), supporting upset condition and emergency procedures.\n, • Support internal and external audits of waste storage and burning ground.\n, • Identify and implement opportunities for waste minimisation, reuse, recycling and cost savings.\n, • Promote and enforce health, safety and environmental good working practices and standards across all waste activities\n, • Work closely with the Safety team to ensure compliance with all relevant legislations, governance and licensing requirements (e.g. Environmental Protection Act, Explosive Regulations, Disposal of Explosive Waste HSE Guidance).\n, • Collate, monitor and report departmental KPIs to identify trends, track performance, and escalate issue’s.\n\n Essential Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience \n\n • Right to live and work in the UK\n, • Minimum of 5Years’ experience working within waste management, environmental services, or similar role.\n, • Knowledge of hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling and regulatory requirements\n, • Proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role\n\n \n Desirable Qualifications, Skills and/or Experience \n\n • Experience in a defense manufacturing environment\n, • WAMITAB / CIWM Level 3 or higher qualification in Waste Management\n, • IOSH or NEBOSH Safety Qualification\n\n This role will be worked over a 4.5 day week; Monday to Thursday 08:00 – 16:45 and Friday 08:00 – 12:30. \n \n \n Please note: We do not engage with recruitment agencies.
